XBX Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Can anybody tell me what the compression figures are on an STI V7 engine please? Ive done a test on my car and 3 are reading around 100 and the other is reading about 50? I dont think Ive done a piston as Im not losing oil and its not smoking, I think it migh possibly be a valve. Can anybody help? P.S dont ever fit Bee R rev limiter!!
dazzlers82 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 from what you just put id say you def have a problem with that cylinder mate!!!!!!!! does it breath at all ???????? (could have done commpression rings on that cylinder my mates skyline just has did not use oil either just broke a lump off corner of piston it did not even knock just started noticin it was breathin heavy or possibly slightly bent a valve it sounded ok though when i last heard it ???? not as though it has a bent valve any way unless is very slight????
granby Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 It wouldn't be number 3 cylinder (by the turbo) that has the low compression!!!
Scooby Hoo? Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 It wouldn't be number 3 cylinder (by the turbo) that has the low compression!!! I bet your right Granby
dazzlers82 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 it could be any from havin that rev limiter on there

Yeah it sounds fine. Its just when u turn it over it dont sound right. Its been like it for about a year now, surely if it was a piston it would of broke by now ?
XBX Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 It wouldn't be number 3 cylinder (by the turbo) that has the low compression!!! Its the one at the back on the other side mate.
dazzlers82 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Its the one at the back on the other side mate. number one then could be worn rings but why on that cylinder i dont no have you tried puttin a little oil in that cylinder if the compression comes up its possibly the rings if it doesnt then more likely to be a valve

turbo2000wagon Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 50 sound iffy, my 99 turbo 2000 did 145 psi on all cylinders( after 120,000 miles). Might be worth rechecking as maybe you got a bad seal on that cylinder with the gauge?
