granby Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Bridgestone RE070 - Great tyres in the dry, interesting in the wet but i did my first track day with these in the wet and was surprised how well they did, very firm ride as the sidewall is almost solid & noisy Goodyear F1 - Great all round tyre especially in the wet, has a softer sidewall so a softer ride and not so noisy, haven't tried these on track but i know someone that has and they were OK but the tread did move a bit on the tyre
kebab nemesis Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Pirelli P Zero Corsas (stick like sh*t to a blanket) , seem to last a while as well, if they are good enough for ferrari and lambos as standard fit they are good enough for a scoob
Garth W Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Toyo proxes T1R, ive got them on my scooby at the moment they look the nuts, grip like s**t to a blanket and dont wear out too quick either!

HairyDJ Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 (edited) Always used 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 until recent addition of a set of 18" wheels. Check the effect of changes to width / profile / rim at http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp - also gives you a guide to rim width that is advised for a particular tyre size. Tended to use Potenzas of various types on the previous 51 plate WRX wagon. current one (another WRX wagon - this time 54 plate with PPP) came with Potenza RE050 - good all rounder and lasted over 16k including track training days that gave them hell. second set of wheels came with RE070 - great in summer, but poor in winter (awful on snow!) - lasted almost 16k with a bit of track day wear. Wouldn't have them again due to winter problems and also found that they were much worse at tramlining than the RE050 moved on to Michelin Pilot Sport - pretty average, never loved or hated them really - lasted less than 13k added a set of winter tyres for the last 2 seasons - Toyo Snow Prox S952 - fantastic in the cold and very trustworthy in snow. Had 2 seasons so far out of these and almost 15k so far - loads of tread left (over 4mm) so they should do me one more winter and then get shredded on a track day Wouldn't want to keep for more than 3 years to avoid the material getting a bit old and possibly "going off". Pretty good grip even on the odd warmer day in the winter too. Still using Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - 5k so far and already down to 6mm or less. A bit different to the previous Sport, but will not go back to Michelin again, even if Costco do have another very cheap deal. Currently running second hand set of Falken FK-452 on 18" wheels - a bit of tramlining, but not as bad as the RE070. These are a bumpier ride and I plan to move up from 215/35 to 225/40 to get less jarring and also to coax the speedo back closer to spot on. When the next set get replaced, I'm currently tempted by the newish Toyo Proxes 4 - hear good things about the T1-S & T1-R, but tread patterns look too similar to the ones above that gave me tramlining. http://www.toyo.co.uk/productdetail.php?id...p;product_id=62 Cheers, David Edited April 18, 2008 by HairyDJ
