j10 dly Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Hey there, Decided today as it's Easter I would do my good deed for the day, as my Mum had been wanting to go shopping, I offered to run her. Anyway ended up in a retail park in Wishaw, so I was sitting in my Car waiting on her when some Vauxhall People Carrier thing drove into the space next to me, i could telll right away he was too close. Also noticed his Motor was not in the best shape, a very large dent in the rear quarter panel, and remains of white paint around the window trim (his car was black by the way). So next thing i knew his wife was trying to get out the passanger door, and not once but three times she hit the side of my car with her door, she did say sorry but i just looked in disbelief, as once was bad enough but 3 times, and that was with me in the car, god knows what would have happend if i wasnt in it. It appeared to me that since they dont take any care of there own car they just asume everyone else is the same and its no big deal if you get couple of dents scratches. Anyway sorry thats my rant over.
micra_wrc Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 thats unreal. hope the dings arent too severe i'm always really wary when parking the scoob in car parks because of door dings/attitude of people and i'm not ashamed to say I take up 2 parking spaces (usually at the furthest away spot from the main entrance). the RA's lightweight panels are peppered with dings.... I think I've easily got 8 in my rear driver side door

s25yme Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Why even if you do park in the furthest away space, do you always return to your car and someone else has parked next to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you feel better after rant. A problem shared is a problem halved. Hope not to much damage to car.
thefastone Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I dont get that either right enough... Park about a half a mile away, spaces EVERYWHERE and then suddenly the cars are clustered around your car... this is why I'll take up 2 spaces at the other side of the car park... muppets...
redrocketjim Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Thats a strange thing isnt it maybe the subaru has some kind off magnet when parked up I once came bk to my car to find a guy sitting on my wing chatting to another guy in the car next to me!!!!! to say the least he got the sharp side off my tongue
RS Grant Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Yea, I take two spaces up... and park away from the main area to try and reduce the chance of people parking next to me. To be honest, I would rather people think I'm an ar$ehole for using two spaces than come back to find a couple of fresh dings in the side of my car. Cheers, Grant

eurosti Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I was back home at xmas and took the wife to Tescos in our clapped out Fiesta! Well it was really busy and very few spaces, however there was a space but another car was right on the line. Told Lizz to get out and i managed to squeeze the purple peril in next to this Renault 19, i was in the space marked and he was on the line. I half expected to come back to the car with the owner waiting to get out as i was right next to his/her drivers door due to there **** parking! How wrong was i, we came back the renualt was gone and the poor old purple peril had been keyed all the way down the pasenger side. If the owner had parked correctly i wouldnt have had to box them in. I laughed it off as i have the number of the car and its only a matter of time before i see it again. Just reinforcing the theory that others dont give a ****!!

micra_wrc Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 ...How wrong was i, we came back the renualt was gone and the poor old purple peril had been keyed all the way down the pasenger side. If the owner had parked correctly i wouldnt have had to box them in. I... ooh stories like that get me really annoyed whats to bet the owner of the renault would have had a right old moan that he couldnt get in cos you had parked so close, without giving a thought to his own atrocious parking!
Richie Cross Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I also park far away from the entrance to avoid this kind of thing. If I'm close to someone, when I open the door I have my hand over the edge so that would make contact first. Unfortunately some folk will just push their door open until it stops!! On a similar note to car related unfriendly behaviour....I remember seeing a car programme where you saw CCTV footage of a girl waiting to get into a space in a multi story car park when this guy just drove in to it. After a wee argument, the guy walked off. The girl drove off only to return and let all his tyres down!!! Justice for you! What goes around comes around! The Renault driver will be cursing when Eurosti catches up with him. Not that I condone that sort of behaviour!!!!

C_WRX Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) An old neighbour of mine, in his 50's, was waiting patiently in a car park for a car to come out of a space when a guy just drove in to it - words exchanged (non were abusive from the neighbour or so he says!!) and the ignorant space stealer and his son then beat neighbour up. They thought just driving off would get them off with it but both the neighbour and a passer by got his plate (obviously not the brightest father/son pairing !) - police caught up with them and they were charged with GBH, despite saying they were never in the car park but CCTV and an independant witness said differently. It was a parking space for goodness sake !!!! Edited March 24, 2008 by C_WRX
johnnyr6 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 The same thing happened to me years ago with my (at the time 5 months old escort). A couple parked far too close and the woman tries to get out and whacked my car, no apology or anything until..... I got out and kicked the wing mirror off their car, Bet they never did it again. Johnny

colzo Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 It's so annoying when these things happen to your pride and joy. To me its just disrespectful. I now tend to go shopping later at night when the 24 hr Tesco car park is less busy!

Johnny Sorry to hear about other stupid drivers but at least Johnny has showed us the way forward... I'm going try that next time but hope it's not a truck as i can't kick that high.
