Urgent Help Boot Is ...

Recommended Posts

locked shut... I have a 2005 blob eye and use the lever in the cabin and not the key to open the boot... shut the boot with lap top, gym bag lunch etc this morning.. get to gym pull lever nothing, pull lever again nothing... get out try key wont turn as it is disabled...

Got my stuff out through the centre of the back seats..

think this is a case of the wire from the lever is broken or has come of the catch at the boot latch, question is how do i get access to fix, has anyone had this problem before... all advise welcome :)

I know it is under warranty , but I can't be doing with the hassle of taking it to the garage :)

Is the lever at the driver's seat loose now or does it still have tension? If it still has some tension it may just be stretched - you can then unclip the cable from the lever and see if you can then pull the cable manually - if that works then it's stretched and needs replaced - unless there is a way to cut the end off and refit the wee ball?

If you do need to fit a new one (I did my bonnet cable this way) you can just attach the new one to the old one then pull it through as you pull the old one out - a cool trick my neighbour showed me :)

it's late 2005 (novemeber) - How do I ge tthe rear seats down? Sounds like the answer to me :)

There is no tension in the lever - feels like the wire has come loose..

very sure I can't turn the Key as I locked the key thing inside so I could use the lever, very sure it has not seized as I keep my car mint and clean that area every week and only recently went on to using the lever...

Thanks for the help, keep it coming :)

The lock thing that you are refering is to disable the lever and not the key...which means that you boot will only be opened by the correct key.

Imagine a scenerio...you car window gets smashed by a theif and tries to open the boot with the lever but only to find out that the lever doesn't open the boot because it's locked...that's why Subaru put the option there in the boot so you have the choice.

hope this help.

failing that you will need to take the rear seats out by taking the 2 bolts of the bottom seat cushion then the 4 bolts for the rear back cushion.

thanks for this, but on mine when you choose to use the lever it disables the key :)
