Help Stuck Fitting Fuel Pump

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am trying to change my fuel pump to a walbro,

the one ive been sent by idigo-gt appear to have no point

to attach what looks like an earth wire. The connections also apear slightly different

The pump is part code GSS341 and the thread on scooby mods shows a GSS342

The car is a 97type r, the website did say for all Subaru except P1s

but the pump thats on it at the moment appears much larger

I know the 342 fits the P1 better but the 341 can also be fitted with a little modification. Im about to fit the 341 to mine very shortly. Do you have any pics of your problems to make it easier to help out? There is a very good guide for fitment of these on p1woc that i could maybe email you if you need.

We did think about trying to modify it but thought better off it as it would have involved cutting wires then sticking them in the fuel tank.(massive simplification) Ordered the 342 will have a look at the two off them and see which one fits best. In a rush though cause its off to Andy Forrest on Friday

There is no cutting of wires involved in it i dont think.

Andy.....................sorry m8 but your wrong there. On your car that is true but not on his 97 typeR.

ONLY difference between 341 and 342 is the position on the inlet on the pump it is 180 degrees opposite to the other model hence either can be used on either age of scoob. Both of them use a 2-wire connector with a black plug on the end that plugs into the fuel pump.

Pre-98 cars had the bigger-bodied fuel pump with ring connectors onto the + and - of the pump. You'll need to cut them and splice them onto the red and black wires on the new connector that comes with the kit. Don't worry about the fact it involves crimping wires BUT IF YOU ARE AT ALL UNSURE, GET AN EXPERT TO FIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
