My missus rang me today and gave me the good news that as from today the car tax on the newer subaru's (y reg onwards), has gone up to £220 for 6 months and £400 for the year!!! TAKES THE P*SS!!! ;)

Got it wrong it is for the newer cars band G Over 225 – for cars registered on or after 23/03/06

so dont panic,

its mugs like me thats going to pay for it.

All cars in band G emissions over 225 k/gm are only liable for the higher tax if registered after end march 06. so if your scoob is between a Y and 55 its still £115 for 6 months. They are certainly trying to screw the drivers for every penny they have.

Are we allowed to talk about this ??? As we can't talk about the other thing I am not going to mention that gets taxed far to much ! ...

This is a Quote I received from an Admin person on here !! ... (100% no lie) - naming no names - but he knows who he is . and this is NOT a dig at him - but a dig at if these posts are left on here or not !

You will NOT change fuel pricing via these methods and NO petition - official or otherwise will make any difference. It's part and parcel of living in Britain. I can only suggest you emigrate if you're not happy.

End Quote

Lets see if what happens !

Is this correct - as I have a MY 53 STI - and My budget (Yes My own) is pushing the limits paying for it !

What I saw in the sun today also confused me - If you buy a New 1.4 Golf you pay £425 Tax - I think - is that for the 1st year only ?

Even SMALL cars are crap for us to drive in road tax !! ( WELL I THINK - AS I HAVE NO REAL IDEA WHATS WHAT NOW ! )

It's nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the enviroment, the goverment is jumping on the green bandwagon as it can see increased revenue opportunities, the green issue is just a great excuse for them.

Car emissions in the UK are minute compared to industry, cows farting etc.

I was saying at work this afternoon the same sort of thing - but I also decided I think I need to mover to France .

If the people do not like something they strike and Block the ferry ports etc - we being good old British - Moan and then PAY !!! !!! !!!

I agree to all the statements above, the government are robbing parasites ;) , as for the road tax matter im glad it dont apply to me because my car was made in 1992 and it goes by the old skool rules! :) i cant afford to by a car newer than 7 years old anyway because the price of beer has gone up too as a result has made me skint, gits :)

its just a joke.... Yet there's never a decent wage increase to cover these extra tax. I can see how and why people fall into debt. One word for our government "theifs".

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Gonna phone the police and tell them iv been mugged by an odd looking fella with white hair and black eyebrows. Then as he run off with my wallet he said he would be back to do it again in october.

as far as new cars 1st year tax - dealers will just offer it free when they sell the cars....and what's 750 to someone buying a Cayenne or new Evo X etc? I have cut back on a few things so I can own my Scooby...we are all to used to our creature comforts and find it hard to give things up...I'm just as bad - when I go to get a new TV I want an HD, 40" Widescreen when really I could save a few hundred quid and get one just a bit smaller and put the money towards my new tax rate lol

I'm not agreeing with the hikes particularly, just more that people, rightly, want all the nice things (and you can't deny our society is driven by the desire for material things) and the latest gadgets and go massively into debt to pay for it all.

I'm not green either so I'm not jumping on that bandwagon (don't think I have had a car whose cat stayed on very long!).

All these woman who go to the feckin salon all day and get their fake tan and spent fortunes of their husband's money on make-up whilst driving a Touareg or SLK can afford that but they still moan. I'm sure if they really thought about it they could find a way to save £450 for their road tax.

But should we have to? Petrol is already taxed at 75%, more than any other country. Congestion charging is being introduced to other cities, you have to pay to use a not so congested part of the M6, speeding fines are just another tax. And now road pricing is on the cards. The tax burden of motorists is a joke, the green issue is a joke, India and China pump out mind boggling amounts of co2 yet our tiny, environmentally insignificant island thinks it can save the world by pricing anything above a 1.6 off the road. I take your point, but I earn my money, its already taxed at source so I would quite like to do what i want with the rest. This, it seems, is now impossible.

Sorry, rant over.
