boris b Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) Jeeze... I'm sure it's a curse... Going into work last night and feel that the car aint pulling very well. Do the rolling stop at set of lights and car comes to a quicker than usual stop... I knew what was coming... A nice hot drivers side front disc... Had a look at it today... Not a pretty sight. Lots of rust in about the pistons and a ripped seal on one of them. The 2 pad retaining pins are SOLID......... Anyway... Grumpy as i am , i need to find somewhere that does the part exchange thing with calipers....More money... Or is it a vaiable option to refurb them myself when the car is off the road getting the bumper bar done...? It doesnt look like it will be getting sold in the near future the way things are going.... Gus.. you could be right mate about it not wanting to be sold. LOL Edited March 9, 2008 by Boris B

Yeah mate 4 pots indeed. I spoke to andy at AWD , they are looking at £131 per caliper on exchange basis.. Godspeed are looking at £185 a pair for fully reconditioned Subaru 4 pot callipers , delivery is £10 ... A PAIR ???
Gus134 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I checked at work today for you mate and no joy sorry! it was worth a try tho
bigbev Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I have had the same issue and decided just to take the car to AWD in perth today. Both my front Calipers were sticking on my 98 WR Sport....the brake pedal felt like standing on a wet sponge so just bit the bullet and got both the front 4 pots change for fully recon ones with new disc/pads. Offside front lower piston was rock solid, certainly explains the worrying stopping distances.. AWD had the bit's in stock so wasn't too much hassle. around £130 each inc Vat. They had to replace the rear bumper beam as well. That was a nightmare as it came off in two pieces in the end rusted right through !!!!!
boris b Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 (edited) I checked at work today for you mate and no joy sorry!it was worth a try tho Cheers anyway matey.. Gonna give Godspeed a call and order from them... What is it with scoobs brakes and rear bumper bars... All too common a fault.. Edited March 11, 2008 by Boris B
boris b Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) Had my bro in law ( mechanic) have a good look at the brakes ... BAD news.... Needing new discs and pads.... Spoke to Ian @ Godspeed, £95 pair of grooved discs and £70 for pads, £185 to refurb both calipers and a tenner for postage... £360 all in.. Thought that was pretty good Edited March 12, 2008 by Boris B
