3 Points

hi everyone got a set of 3 points for the car but was wondering about the bolting location for the rear had a wee read of the instructions and they say use rear belt bolt thats on the c-pillar but i cant see how as this is coverd with plastic so it then says you can use the centre belt buckle bolt as long as its not too close to the centre of the car (which it is)

so just wondering really if anyone has 3 points fitted and what position they mounted them in and its a 52reg wrx.

cheers colin

I've got these - but its 11.50pm so I will take pics tomorrow and show you how they are fitted. It will require a little bracket to be made, however, the bolts on the seat runners are removed and replaced with eyelets for the harnesses to attach to. The top part goes through the hole in the seat and attaches to the bolt at the front/bottom of the back seat. You can detach these when you want to use the back seat. Ed-209 fitted both if mine in half an hour.

Thankfully, these points are the only ones I have with regards to motoring! Long may it continue.

Pics to follow if desired.

It really depends on the type of 3point harness you have. When I had the harness they where fitted into the rear shelf which on my car had be reinforced and lined up with the front seats, normally you would fit them where the rear seat belt bolt in under the rear seat, but they sit off center, the scooby is luck that it has a bolt at the front of the rear seat in line with center of the front seats. This will take the harness I fitted for john, but as I said to john it's okay for a MOT(if they have the E approved mark) and road used/track day ect. but not for racing as it's not reinforced. but for normal road used I used the standard seat belts.

If your car is fitted with pretensioner seatbelt then no you can't use the fitting points as it would fail it's mot and can be dangerous as in a accident it fires an explosive charge to pull the belt tight and if your wearing a harness thats tight already, there is nothing to give apart from you....

Your best to ask a MOT examiner if it's safe.

Ps. Sparco are E approved to okay for road use and MOT's etc.

ed where are you based and how much would you take for fitting these as you clearly know the correct fitting positions for these, i would rather do with out them if they are not fitted right..
