ed-209 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Well come wed it will have, never felt so said like finding out a member of the family has passed away. I let the wife pick the new car as the one I wanted "Type S GT" has a 20week waiting time. So she has picked a Renault CC in Red (I'll put on the flame suit now it gets worse) it's a dci with 6speed box. Mind you the insurance is only £226 full comp and it does 47Mpg Urban and 65Mpg Combined. But as I still will be around helping out if needed(wanted) (got to use the rest of this membership somehow). Ed.

All the best, hope the wife keeps well. J
billyboy Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Im thinking of parting with mine too.The running costs are gettin too much.
colzo Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Im thinking of parting with mine too.The running costs are gettin too much. There comes a time when you have to justify running an Impreza I think. I have owned turbo'd Subarus since 2000, and although I'm fortunate to do low miles, so running costs are low(ish) I feel this will defo be my last. I've always wanted something German like an S3 (or if I could persuade the Mrs./win the lotto, a RS4 or M3) where you still have performance, luxury, slightly lower running costs and better depreciation.
G.T. Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 sad day indeed ed as long as it helps the wife get better its for a good cause im sure you will be back in a scoob again as they get under your skin

All things considered, there is no way, no matter how you cut it that you can justify running an Impreza, Its nothing more than a huge slice of self-indulgence, pure and simple. If I wasn't pouring money into a car, what else would I do with it? I have all the house I ever want, I have seen enough of the world, so no need to travel, I don't wnat to go to the grave with a big bank balance. I run mine inspite of the costs, not becasue I can find a way to justify it. As long as I can afford it, I'll run an Impreza (or until I get so old as to embaress my self!).
RA Dunk Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 If I wasn't pouring money into a car, what else would I do with it? true, like John say`s you`ll just spend it on something else, i know i would/will/do no point being the richest man in the graveyard is there, your here on this planet once, enjoy it while it lasts (no matter how much it costs) :-)

Fair enough John, and I would defo agree it is totally self indulgence. As I've said before I've owned Scoobs now for over 7 years so they`re not really a big deal to me now - sort of been there done that. I need my car for work, school run etc. I like a nice sporty car, but do I need 300bhp? Doubt it. I first bought an Impreza when they were THE car to have and there was a 9 month waiting list! But back then I had no responsibilities, now times have changed priorities change and I do believe certain things have to be justified.
scoobymadburd Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 we will miss it ed with its cool stickers and ur big sound system!!!!! but u will always have the pic of me standing next to your car in my scooby doo suit lol Claire

From time to time I think of what I spend on the car (£60 for petrol alone) and I think, what am I doing??? But the car gives me a great deal of pleasure and enjoyment that the money saved from not having the car would not be able to bring. Having cash in the bank does nothing for me, spend spend spoend I say. Not mature, wise or responsible... yeah, so what?
fai17 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I like a nice sporty car, but do I need 300bhp? Doubt it. I But do i need 550bhp...i doubt it as well but and a big BUT...at least i can say hmmm i've smoked that porsche, that aston and that slow m3.. Life live and enjoy it. When is Crail again?

When is Crail again? Let's face it, we surround ourselves in life with things we don't need. Do we need PCs that fast, do we need 50inch plasma TVs? Do we need 3-bed Detached houses? No no and no. But what is life without some trimmings?

Know what you're saying Peter, but sometimes I think would I like more luxury than power? Saying that, I would be hard pushed to sell my car.

It's all sussed
