Morning all.I have had my my06 spec D for a few months now and have reached THAT point.

Can anyone tell me what effect on mpg the ppp has?

I know its not the cheapest way to go but would like to keep my warrenty intact.

The car is my daily runner,so mpg is something i have to think about.

Cheers,

Colin.

Personally wouldn't do it mate if you're worrying aboot warranty.

Keep the pennies and bide your time then have the car mapped

by someone like Andy Forrest (upon having the basics fitted first).

It makes alot more economical sense 'cause no doubt you'll want to

go down that route anyways at some point

Should marginally improve MPG under normal driving. If you boot it, then obviously you're using the extra power and that means extra fuel.

I understand wanting to keep the warranty. I jumped in and upgraded my turbo, got a remap and all that, and a week later it went pop. The 2.5's run tighter in the bore in an effort to reduce emmissions. This means there is less forgiveness when driving the car hard when detonation might occur; the result? A busted piston. I use the car for the track too, so this puts extra strain on the engine.

I wouldn't say that all cars are going to suffer this fate, I think I was just unlucky, but there is always a risk. With PPP you warranty is intact, but the power gains are not worth the money compared to what you can get with an AndyF and some moderate upgrades (with your spec D you'd keep the original turbo I'd imagine).

How much is left on your warranty? Is it worth spending near 2k for a little bit extra power in the interest of keeping your warranty for the remaining year or so? Only you know my friend!

Mmmmmm. Not sure what to do now.

Will probably wait 'till warrenty runs out and go from there.Unless the stealers decide to offer ppp at a "special" price. :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Well I went against the normal went for the PPP last May. SIDC secured a deal which saved you £400.

Warranty was important to me this is my everyday car and I use it for business. You will be cheaper and get better results by going the mod and map route, but I couldn't wait another 2 years so got the PPP and prodrive springs. Car now makes 329/310 (with no additives) which are reasonable figures.

As for mpg I saw a slight improvement but you are more tempted use the additional power so overall it's probably about the same.

Saying you are waiting til the warranty expires is like saying the extra powe will defo do your car in! If you want to do it, do it now; either way, you will be screwed! Well, that is IF anything goes wrong. Besides, you won't lose your warranty completely anyway. If the brakes go. or suspension fails, the engine mods wont matter. I got disks done under warranty twice with Tein springs fitted. Also, if it does happen to go belly up and as long as you keep your standard bits, you can revert your car back and try your luck. Not that I'd advocate dishonesty, but some people might feel OK about doing that sort of thing. When my piston went, I reverted it back and had it tested under warranty, but the analysis showed up nothing. I then got a compression test done independently which pointed to a damaged piston and at that point I stopped pursuing the warranty as it was most likely my doing.

Go for it and worry about it later, nothing ventured, nothing gained and faint heart never won sh!t!!! Haha!

Got my spec D ppp'd when I bought it...makes a difference but not same as getting a de- cat and Andy F's magic touch which I got done late last year. As for mpg there is not much between the two...Its all down to your right foot.
