timmy2take Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 At the end of the day...Gazebo or No Gazebo...flags or no flags...we are allKent Scoobies!! A great club with great people...and remember all good things come to those who wait!! I wasn't there, but I have to agree, not really sure what difference a flag and what not is going to make.
baser999 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 If you had taken the time to read the thread started by Deano you would have seen where we were with the Gazebo! You should get the facts before ranting about what a farce it is!! You say it's a lot of money, but if we went for a cheap one it will look cheap, and you said we needed to look professional and create the right impression. If you think it's all a farce you're more than welcome to take it over. Sorry for hijacking this thread for any more info on the gazebo see the gazebo thread. I had read the other thread before posting my comments. At no stage have I suggested it was anyones fault - it was merely an observation that the initial thread about getting a gazebo was in September last year and yet we still don't have it. I accept that the original models were discarded on account of their not being sturdy enough and that we were going with Taunton Canopies instead, but this decision seems to have been made at the back end of October. If I'm right their gazebo could apparently be available within 48 hours, delivered. I know we're having it sign-written so presume this is where the delay has arisen? My personal feelings are that if we're paying in the order of £570 we should be getting a better service than this, hence my comment about it being a farce which I still stand by. My comments weren't intended to blame anyone, merely voicing my concerns at the delays
Pele Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Sun stroke ...I reckon!! That's the one lol - I could fry an egg on my arms and my head might just have well been bald it's so burnt!!!
granby Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Sent a email to Lydden yesterday thanking them for putting on a good show , got a reply back thanking us for taking part and they said our cars looked great (even without a gazebo ) and this event will be held every year on the May day bank holiday and they would very much like us to attend again

Well if thats there views perhaps we could choose our own spot next year.
deani_age Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) When Granby booked the space at the BHP show, it was on behalf of The SIDC. He cannot be held responsible if this show was not on the SIDC supported events list. I'm sure the disappointment for most was compounded by seeing how well supported the EVO's were, by the Lancer Register, who also had a stand in the Pit area. Maybe it's time to form a Kent Scoobies events committee, so the responsibility can be shared and not just fall onto the shoulders of just 1 or 2 hard working individuals. Anyway I enjoyed my day, so thanks Ian (Granby). Edited May 9, 2008 by deani_age
stiggy Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Well I enjoyed my day out, thanks to everyone involved. I didn't realize that where we were positioned was such a big deal. I was very happy with the spot. Nice and close to the pits and saved me walking up and down the hill couldn't of wanted for more.
fudge Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I agree with Stiggy, it was no big deal where we were positioned. Thanks for your efforts Ian

stiggy Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Only draw back i found was that there wasn't enough women with next to nothing on Ah I do have to agree with that it was a bit lacking in that dept... not sure what we can do about it, maybe Granby could come up with some sort so strategy for the next time

But i also have been told there may be another show there in July And there was a ban on scantily clad women as the BHP show was designed for families and didnt want to put off familes and kids..... They even told several stands to cover their girls up ,,lol Edited May 10, 2008 by Montythegod
