right tell us exactly what is happening an what you have changed or checked

also have you checked the crank sensor and also the earth lead for corrosion under the intercooler both could be possible causes ive heard :D

Right basically, the car is a little hesitant at 2500 revs and is also not starting first thing in the morning till the 2nd or third crank over and when it does it wants to stall and hesitate but seconds later it reaches idle and lowers down normally whilst it's getting warm. Runs fine boosts well but a slight hesitation lumpy kinda thing going on at around 2500. Feel it a little more in 3rd gear. The oil light on startup doesn't show on the instrument panel sometimes either when you crank the car. Sometimes it does. Never comes on when i'm driving.

Changed parts. Some second hand, some new but all known working parts. Before it started happening i've fitted the following...coil packs, cooling temp sensor, maf sensor, throttle position sensor, FCD set to 9, apexi air filter, lambda made by walker if that means anything and a toad alarm system fitted by dealer.

Done the usual, cleaned the idle control valve, cleaned the boost solenoid (hks), cleaned the pressure sensor, checked all the pipes, rewired fuel pump connector under back seat, cleaned intercooler hoses, cleaned crank shaft sensor, cleaned cam sensor, checked spark plugs which were still nice and clean and only 6 months old and were gapped to 0.7 if thats right? Fuel pump isn't that old either and it's a 255 with pressure in the tank so no loss there. Got no water or oil leaks and it has just passed its mot!!!

:D

Taken it to a couple of places. Extreme told me to take the car up after explaining it's a cold start problem then basically said they need the car overnight when i was there. Seeing as i wasn't in a position to be able to leave it there i left with the usual answers you hear...could be your maf, could be your sensor, could be your spark plugs but wont be able to tell until we start it in the morning. Whilst i was there though they did a check on the diagnostics and things were reading fine. Slight overfuelling only. Then straight afterwards i took it to kai performance, left it overnight and the following morning they rang up and said theres a fault code on it directing to the throttle position sensor which i already knew about and had nothing to do with the cold start problem. So it had basically cost me money to find out what i already knew. Replaced throttle position sensor...no fault codes at all!

:D

It's still doing it as i checked today, starting on 2nd or 3rd crank and feeling slightly lumpy in 3rd gear and the only thing i can think of is the oil pressure one under the alternator. That's what a few people have pointed out too but i'm no mechanic so i wouldn't know if that is the cause? Might explain the oil light on the dash maybe? Low pressure somehow? I'm totally stumped now and dunno what to do. Seems like i've been getting these problems since the cold weather started. :P

How can i tell if the earth is corroded? I gave the point a clean with a wire brush and sprayed wd40 on it.

remove it an clean the surfaces of lead and were it bolts to also the oil pressure switch will not be the cause of your starting or boost problem but possibly of your oil light the lambda should not be the cause as dont think the ecu uses that until engine is warmer were the coil packs 2nd hand if so they could be your problem an also depending on type of plugs they may need gapping to 0.6 (i may be wrong but sure iv heard that somewere before)

Check the earth cable under the rear seat, I had a similar problem and this was the cause :D

I think from this it means yes he did, although I had to read it a couple of times to make sure lol :)

Right i rechecked coils and no cracks, changed spark plugs to hks ones gapped at 0.7, gave earth point under intercooler a clean and guess what? :).............STILL NOT STARTING IN THE MORNING!!!

Well im fresh out of ideas, ordered up an oil pressure sensor anyways coz it was 6 quid and would sort the oil light problem out.

Pele what colour is that earth wire? Is it the black one? Was your earth broken somewhere along the wire? My connector was burnt due to it so i replaced the connector and used a 5 amp electrical connector block. It works fine now but has got me thinking it could be a fault there somewhere? If it's not that then it could be the crank sensor like your saying daz but i thought that problem only occurred when the car was warm? What about the cam sensor? Would that be a possibility too? Appreciate the help guys.

The block had at some point burnt out and the live had been reconnected outside, but they had left the earth still in the block. It had been playing up for ages hesitating and jumping but I put it down to fuel then one day it just wouldn't start at all lol. Rang Xtreme and Paul told me to check the earth and bingo problem solved :) (after changing fuel pump twice lol)
