pav Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I'm looking at having my wheels refurbed at Chameleon, they are the anthracite pff7 on the WR1. Has anyone had this work done on these wheels? How good was the colour match as I'v read on another forum that Speedline no longer supply the paint. Any help would be appreciated
paul555sti Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Anyone?? Look forward to hearing the replys as i have a set of alloys needing refurbed as well.
colzo Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 The correct colour for the PFF7s is Bright Flitter if that helps mate.

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I have had my Pff7's refurbed recently ...... I actually went away from Anthracite and went for "silver sparkle" ( Powder Coaters in Cotton St, Aberdeen though) which contrasts better against my black WRX You could always go white - sheer 80's pimp and looks fantastic CGS
WUZ Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 You could always go white - sheer 80's pimp and looks fantasticCGS I tried to get you to do that months ago.....................................and you botled it WHITE PFF7's RULE! Russell ps - Prodrive cannot release the code for their "bright flitter" wheels as the process is specific to the manufacturer (Speedline) they use so you'll never get it 100% Sorry
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I know, I know - I feel enough of a dobber as it is sometimes when I burble into some of our contractors car parks and that's without an STi spoiler and an Afterburner. White is the way to go though ! Pure Miami Vice
Gee Wr1 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 (edited) Pav the paint code you want for the WR1 coloured pff's is PPG 226.662 this is supposed to have come from Speedline themselves via another wr1 owner. I've kept this code stored as i'm gonna get mine refurbed after winter. Another owner got his done before we got hold of the paint code & said Pewter in the subaru range is pretty similar. sma01 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 be interested to hear how you get on mate, 1 of my wheels has been damaged while the cars been away and want to get it repaired for it going back on the road. Am staying clear of powder coating, my dad recently had a wheel refurb on his audi, by a "specialist" recommended to him by the audi dealer, and the job was terrible....
thefastone Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 by a "specialist" recommended to him by the audi dealer, and the job was terrible.... I think that the key here is to re read what you have just typed... thing to note here, is that the dealers know pretty much nothing about nothing when it comes to things like this... they just see that its cheap and send you on your way, because they are happy, they have helped you, you have got it cheap, and they may even have some sort of deal on with the place... note that's why if you were needing it done yourself, you wouldn't even think about looking at the dealer for that kind of work, not their field as it were... point of note, a certain Subaru Garage in Aberdeen, use a painter guy just outside town, he did a respray on my roof, (warranty job) ended up re-spraying the whole roof... got the car back, and the lacquer was coming off the door which the garage paid for also, but then he is cheap for them because they send all their work there...

micra_wrc Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I've had my alloys refurbished (including sorting out a nasty green tinge on one of the alloys caused by the previous owner using the wrong cleaner) and also a buckled one repaired by Chameleon in Renfrew. Dont know how good they are at powder coating though and quite a lot of folk on here have used them... clicky here and here and also here
