luke_clifton Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Hi, recently my car has been very juicy on petrol, been doing about £20 in 50 miles. Today there was a very strong petrol smell inside the car. I could also smell it down by the drivers side rear wheel. Where would you recommend checking for leaks, or just get it booked straight into a specialist.
luke_clifton Posted November 14, 2007 Author Posted November 14, 2007 I also noticed when i filled up on sunday, that the filler cap diden't hiss meaning it wasen't pressurised.
granby Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Well it definitely sounds like you have a leak, can you park the car up for a while and see if you get any pools of petrol on the ground
HOL Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Well it definitely sounds like you have a leak, can you park the car up for a while and see if you get any pools of petrol on the ground You could also have a sensor out and the car is burning more petrol. But it seem too excessive for that. If you do not find a leak, try a fault code check.
Deano 666 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 check your fuel filler pipe for leaks, have a good look at your fuel tank from under the car with a tourch for petrol stains on the tank, your fuel pipes run inside the car, remove rear seat cusion, remove oval metal cover in boot floor. check fuel pipes on fuel pick up point on tank with engine running.

I've got the pipe, but not had it fitted yet. My plan was to get all the parts then give the car to you for a few days to work your magic, lol.
