Subarstar Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 The time has come again to replace the bulbs that illuminate the rear number plate.....oh joy! Last time, I had to drill the bolts out because they were so badly corroded. Unfortunately, they look the same again, so looks as if I'll have to get the drill out once more. Anyone got any good ideas about what types of bolts to use other than steel ones? Or good tips for avoiding this hassle in the future? Wasn't sure if it could be the fuse, but the owners manual doesn't show a separate fuse for these lights, so I dunno. Anyway, you're thoughts/tips would be appreciated. norry.
frank c Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I understand exactly where your coming from . It took me long to do the same the last time my bulbs went. The only other thing i did was to copper grease the bolts so hopefully the next time all will be ok. Not much help, hope you get it sorted.
the squiggle Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Hi Norrie Wee bit of Petroleum Jelly over the bolts help prevent them rusting or Oswalds in Underwood Rd may do the smae bolt in Alloy
Subarstar Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks guys. Was going to paint the bolts the last time I replaced them, but by the time I remembered it was too late! They seem to corrode at an amazing rate.
the blue dragon Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Yup, had exactly the same problems with mine mate, an i did like Grant suggested to you, an somthered them in petroleum jelly. Havent had to change them since but hopefully will be ok for next time. cheers Iain
