i was one of the cars out that day but only overtake when safe to do so.i can honestly say i didnt cut up anyone even tho i was enjoying the run.

my life and that of my girlfriend and her car and that of the other drivers are to valuable to put in danger.

Reckon whoever it was should have the balls to get into that thread and apologise. Our

reputation is poor enough as it is......

edit :- doh ! should have quoted this........

Cal where are you? Called your house but no answer.

Was at the Scotland game and then had the day off today. Just back in the house after coming up from Glasgow. Our phone goes every 7 mins so on occasion it gets rubber-eared. Was in the middle of some DIY. Will call just now

There is 2 sides to every story.

Exactly Iain.

I can probably name all those that were on that run yesterday but until they get the opportunity to defend themselves no more should be said on the subject.

I wasn't on that part of the run, but I do know that there are 2 sides to it and I dinna think it is fair people saying unfair things when they are just going on hearsay from elsewhere and not in posession of al the facts, or both sides of the story

I guess it's ok when the sidc have runs. Cant remember what run it was this year but i came along to the meeting point and it was split into groups of 4. Mental, fast, medium and slow. I have never taken part in a run and never will as some of the driving should be left for knockhill.

Here Here Iain

None of these cars are reported as being "air bourne" like others who are hollier than thou

I remember a certain individual mention he was sideways on a slip road not to long ago.................returning from the Mcrae day!!! B)

People in glass houses should not throw stones folks

Look at your own driving styles and i know i have been there and even i have backed off when in convoy with some.....and thats saying something

We are as guilty as the next man :o

Quick explanation of the thinking behind splitting up the groups

50 odd cars leaving a single location in one go does not work. People with no fear take risks to get up the front of the convoy. The first runs followed this principle but after run 2 this was abandoned in favour of the groups with nominated group leaders. These group leaders knew the various etiquette to be followed like no overtaking in stupid places and the approach to villages.

The 4 groups allow people to join whatever group they feel happy with that groups pace.

If the group you are in is going too fast then pull over or wait until the next stop and join the group behind you. Subsequently if the group you are in is going too slow then wait until the next stop and join the next quicker group. A simple but effective solution that works for everyone that has attended our runs

Mental.......people with no fear and like to push the limits

Fast..........people with fear and know the limits

Medium.....people that think the fast group have no fear and are pushing the limits

Slow ........people that like to doddle and look at the scenery

In a perfect Ernest Hemingway world we would all leave in one group, obey every single Road Traffic created and never overtake any vehicle that may be in our way but unfortunatly this is the real world and men will be kids when behind the wheel of a AWD Impreza on a country road.

As Jeremy Clarkson once said, "the best driving roads in the world.......Scotland"

like i said above i was sawing sticks in my bed when this happened and wasnt there, so cant comment on what might have happened, but ive been on quite a few runs over the years and there is always a bit of spirited driving, the diffrence this time is somebody has brought it up in another forum and it seems to be spreading, if anybody has ever been on a run and not been past 60 or 70 (what ever the speed limit might dictate) hold your hands up now there will maybe (but i very much doubt it) be one or two who hasnt, but i can guarantee 99% of folks have pushed it a little bit, may i also point out for any body looking in it was a non SIDC run and nothing to do with this club what so ever

Fair enough having groups as 50 cars is a bit much but why the need to categorise them. People with no fear and like to push the limits should only push those limits on a track and not public roads.

So why bring it up in sidc

Every time i organise one for the Highlands the turn out from the Northern lads is usually quite poor.

And when us northern lads organised something for santa cruise there was a poor turnout, only yourself, imy and nanaki turned up.

Back to topic, nothing too wild in that video? Air bourne over a bridge, doughnuts in a car park. Last video i saw on here of someone doing doughnuts in a car park he was shot down in flames for it. If there was pics on another forum showing someone going over a bridge like that would he be classed as a hero or an idiot?

The explanation is in the bit you deleted. Nutters that get out the car park last pull some shady manouvers just to get to the front of the group, solve the problem by putting all the people into groups they feel comfortable in

Of course i am going to say to the leader of the first group now keep it under 60 and no overtaking but wether that group leader listens to me or not is another story but i can assure you the general group safety is the group leaders responsablity. After organising 7 runs over 4 years and no serious accidents or incidents and covering an average of 250 miles per run i think the groups is the better solution to letting people leave point A willy and indeed nilly.
