Chris.Mcd Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 (edited) Hey I am getting my WRX remapped by the legend Andy Forrest next Tuesday. Therefore I need to get my #### in gear and fit a few parts. Basically how long roughly will it take two guys top fit the following parts : ( Have decent knowledge of working on cars - not great though) Turbo Intercooler Injectors Uppipe Fuel Pump Also any advice on fitting the above parts? What ones will be the hardest ones etc ? Thanks Chris Edited September 21, 2007 by Chris.Mcd
drb5 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Prolly take the best part of a day, expecting a couple problems along the way. Biggest time consumer is the turbo, with the up-pipe just being an additional item to remove/fit once the turbo is off. Mind you, the cutting of the bumper can be a PITA to get right.
Chris.Mcd Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 Thanks for the reply bud. Thats ok then, though it would be longer. Will be doing it over the next week - few hours a day then next weekend to get it all finished in time for Andy. Hopefully not big problems will crop up

drb5 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 What you really wanting to know exactly mate? Turbo-Biggest prob is nut deciding to sieze onto the stud. Hefty strong bar and time will eventually remove the nut. Intercooler-No real problem, just make sure you tighten all the jubilee clips, so there are no leaks. Injectors-Caps can be broken when removing if not careful and make sure you fit the new ones appropriately. Uppipe-Simple enough....2 extra bolts and nuts to come off after the turbo comes off. Fuel Pump-Remove old one......fit new one. Easy. One word of caution, use new original Subaru gaskets for turbo, up and downpipes, otherwise you may end up removing them all again, when the cheap ones don't seal up properly.

Thanks bud for the help and advice. Thats what I was looking for, just the problems I may incur and any tips for removing

Chris.Mcd Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 Having problems removing the turbo heatshield on my newage? Anyone know how many bolts needs to be removed and where they are located? Quick reply would be grateful Thanks chris
drb5 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 All 10mm bolts. Couple are through the shield straight onto the up-pipe and of course a couple onto the turbo bracket, but i expect you found them ok. If you can't find one or two, get underneath the car and feel round the sides. You could probably do with a 1/4 drive ratchet and dumpy 10mm socket to get to these bolts though.

Thanks for the reply again. Have got the heatshield off and all the bolts and pipes holding the turbo in place apart from the bottom bolt thats attached to the downpipe. Do I need to get underneath the car to do this? Do i need to remove the downpipe also? Thanks
drb5 Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Yer, best way is underneath with a longer 3/8 drive extension, but CAN be done from above with a spanner coming in from the drivers side. For that, you hope to GOD that the nut doesn't seize up on the stud though.
