personally i feel this is a useless thread! It doesnt matter if we have 30k or just 3 as long as members are chatting together and having fun................

Im sorry to say :blink: as the more threads that are on here = the more we have to keep an eye on for new posts.

I'd have to agree. I really can't understand the fixation some people have with post counts. I run a very successful website outside the SIDC with busy Forums where post counts have never even been mentioned - either for individuals or for Forums. Folk just post as and when they feel they can make a contribution. I'm genuinely intrigued to know why the post count thing is such a big deal on here. Quality, not quantity is what counts.

Well there are valid points to both sides of the fence,

BUT i feel some posts that are here could be saved for talking bout on the chat thread, and the more meaning ful posts like show, meets, and events should have there own thread.

Help keep it neat and tidy, and saves people haveing to browse through pages of threads to find information they may need on a show thats comming up.

I know "Btt" a post is handy to push it back in to view but shouldent it allready be near the top if there isnt pointless threads being created?

Im not having a go at any one or trying to , i just think that it be more efficaint ect ect.

Sorry if this has upset anyone.

Didnt upset me, whooohooo 16 posts get in there son!!!

On topic i visit a vast range of forums, from gaming through to gardening, every single forum, somebody likes to "big" up their posts, fair play to them, keeps people coming back and reading it....... job done imo

I'm not clued up on the history. Before taking this job on I rarely ventured outside Scottish Scoobies, but thanks for the insight and explanation.

Re the chat threads - I'm probably going to clear them down every three months or so. It won't affect post counts or anything like that and you're free to start another, but with the current one running at 500-odd pages and the long time it took to convert the forums, if I can keep on top of huge topics then it helps if we ever need to recover after a disaster.
