cullenmin Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 ...managed to get more than 300 miles to one tank until the petrol light came on. In fact made 312.9 miles so did the wee calculations and worked out at 28.6 mpg and costing 16.19 pence per mile. I only managed because I kept the revs below 3000 rpm for the whole tank and result, hard to do but a result! I know this has been discussed before but feel free to add your own petrol consumption achievements/disappointments! Rich
Richie Cross Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 [] Hard to do!!?? I bet. Think I've managed about 280miles which I was pretty happy with. Having to take the Scoob to work (70 mile round trip) at the moment so I'm filling up every 4 days or so!!! [:'(] But....it's all good fun!
cullenmin Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 Very hard to do!!! 280 miles was my previous best but that was snailing to the petrol station after having the petrol light on too long! This time the light came on just before I got to the garage, 49.7 litres so technically still had 10.3 litres to play with!
scientific steve Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Remember Clarkson doing the London to Eburg run in the derv Audi keeping it in the "green" was so hard and such a bore, why should anybody want to drive like that ????????? why did you try then Rich, were you bored with them roads you do so often ????????? []
cullenmin Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 Aye I must be aff ma heed! Remember I can still give it a bit of go coz full boost for me is 2800 rpm. maybe ill try a clarkson style endurance test one day but I doubt it, lol
scouk Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Last tank lasted me until 280 miles and that was with a speedy run with a couple of guys on here a few weeks back! WoOT! I'm generally quite sensible on the road [A] Usually I get around 260 miles before the light comes on. Fill up about 15-20 miles after that. emptying the tank I'd probably get 300 Max I ever got was 330 miles. That was on a long steady(ish) run from Elgin up to Rogie and back again.. Having said that I managed to get down to Southampton on just 1+3/4 tanks! couple of months ago.. And yeah It is bloomin difficult to drive below the boost threshold []

[] Think I had days of just going between my house and B&Q/Tesco on busy roads......mmm, yeah really boring! Thankfully the wife hasn't got me going to B&Q that often so it's fun 99.999999% of the time! If you're worried about the fuel, it's not the car to be buying!
