5cooby Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 hi all some of you may remember me from about a year back when i had a very sorry looking blue corsa and couldn't wait to get my hands on a scoob. well... i now have a 96 Legacy 2.2 GX wagon, yeah unfortunately its not a Impreza but looking at the steering wheel and seeing SUBARU makes me feel like Colin McRae. my first mod was a 4.5 inch stainless backbox it now has the legendary burble. In the next few months i'll be doing an engine swap from what i've read an Impreza STI V1 or V2 engine will slip in fairly easily (backup car ready incase it takes a little longer than expected lol)
wrxmania Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Welcome. Good luck in the engine swap although finding a Version 1 STI engine may be a challenge. They only built 100 then 200 numbered cars, with a handbuilt engine. I'd imagine that an early WRX engine would do the same job and be much easier to get a hold of? Brian.
seafar99 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Welcome back, the legacy wagon was what sent me down this subaru spiral of madness, great old buses.

Brian. didn't know that, thanks for the advice, an early WRX engine it is then lol. If possible I'm going to try get a write-off so I can have the diffs, box, etc, make the job a little easier. I'm aiming to do it for as little cash as possible lol just so noone can say I'd have been cheaper buying a WRX. I think its gonna be tricky but not impossible.
wrxmania Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Bear in mind you could pick up an old wrx starting from £2k...
