Sutty Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 My wrx sti v limited has developed a tapping/knocking sound. It comes and goes but it getting worse sounds like someone tapping a screw driver on the engine is it a valve or have i done a bottom end shell? ive only just bought the car i know its just been serviced ive just checked the oil and its like new but its over full by about quarter of an inch on the dip stick. Could this be anything to do with it?
blue boy Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 That could cause high oil pressure me thinks best take it back and get it checked. Did you buy it from a Subaru Dealer?
robert_harding Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 when i had a classic...i had a bit of a panick, mine developed a knocking noise, sounded like it was coming from the driver side of the engine, turned out to be the middle silencer internals had come loose....worth a check....de-cat centre soon sorted that out[] worst case scenario, is the bottom end has gone, or little ends gone on 1 or more cylinder. edited to add: possible piston slap....also. overfilling wont cause high oil pressure..definately wont do it any good though, classsics prefer to be just under the full mark. a bit hard to diagnose without seeeing and hearing it. get it checked out pronto. one thing...what mods has it had done that you know of?.
