Lady Vix Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Another one which JD & I are organising. As this one is quite close, we are putting a dedline of end of July for you to put your names down for this one. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Jersey Rally<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 12th & 13th October 2007 The rally starts at approximately 13.00 on Friday the 12th of October with 2 stages on Friday afternoon & 2 stages Friday evening. Then moving onto a 7.45 am start with 2 Saturday morning stages and again 2 Saturday afternoon stages. There are approx 110 stage miles and about the same in road mileage, it will be a major test of the competitors’ stamina and experience. There are over 750 households to visit and seek permission to use the public roads past the properties. Tight, twisty public roads are closed off to rally through them. Saturday evening there is a party held at the hotel (the Rally headquarters). This year is a dinner presentation, and those that want to let their hair down can do so in the Starlight room. Plan of action Thursday Fly: Exeter to Jersey 11 Oct 07 @ 07.15 Jersey to Exeter 14 Oct 07 @ 18.05 Price 1 Adult = £69.98 (as at 12.30 on 28.06.2007) Hire a car/minibus (the cost of this will be split evenly between the passengers) Arrive at Hotel (Rally Headquarters) 9.30ish, we will check in and store luggage with hotel but usually rooms are not ready until 2pm. Until this time we usually either go shopping or relax in lobby/conservatory. The hotel do offer a special rate if you are going over to watch the rally so please contact us to find out more details. Hotel Features: Restaurants - Belvedere (hotels main restaurant offers buffet style breakfast and dinner. Special menus and sittings for children and supervised creche facilities adjacent, available until 8.30pm each day (from Whitsun to Oct). Bonetti's (brasserie) & Jersey Joe's (American diner and ice cream parlour). Kiplings Pub, the Veranda bar & Lobby bar. Boulevard lounge, Star room - nightly entertainment (June to September). Aquadome all weather leisure complex offering hours of fun for all the family at a constant 27 degrees centigrade - 80m waterslide, cascade pools, spas, lazy river, toddlers pool, kiddies boat with mini waterslide, outdoor heated swimming pool (Mar-Oct), constantly supervised by professional lifeguards, sunbathing terraces, gardens, fitness centre, saunas, steam room, tennis court and Cascades cafe at poolside. Gardens Launderette. Car parking. Thursday evening we usually go out for a nice meal. Friday morning get yourself ready to watch the rally. In Jersey you usually get to see a mixture of weather so come prepared for anything! Friday afternoon the rally starts & continues into the evening. Saturday morning, I hope you’re an early bird! Take a packed lunch with you as you usually don’t get a chance to sit at a pub! We will be travelling to different stages throughout the day. Each stage gets driven 4 times so by the final time through, the cars are really travelling some! Saturday evening, we leave stage and return to the hotel while the final stages are still being driven. This is to guarantee a parking space and a place at the bar! We will hopefully get tickets to the rally meal where we get to watch the presentation. Sunday mainly consists of recovering from the hangover, however we do go to the living legend where we play a great game of crazy golf and have a go on the go-karts. Sunday evening return home. Suggestion! Take Monday off to recover!
