yogi- Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Knowlsey said the seals in my turbo have gone, so time to get a new one on warranty now, iv'e booked her in at a certain Subaru dealer to get it sorted.
granby Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Thats not good news Ian, maybe that was something to do with your oil problems a few months back, at least your getting it done under warranty
yogi- Posted June 23, 2007 Author Posted June 23, 2007 Yeah it must have been, i just hope that that is all it is lol fingers crossed [Y]
woody-cdas Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Sorry to hear that Ian - thank god it's under warranty!! [+o(] Mine had to go back a few times when I first got it. Ended up having the loads of bits done that would have cost me a fortune if it wasn't done under warranty. Now the big ends sound like they are on their way out so i think it might be time to consider getting a new car sometime in the not to distant future. A type25 me is thinking. [[*-)]

yogi- Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Walldonway kept it for two days and couldnt see a whiff of smoke at all, but found (in their words) a minute oil leak at the back of the engine?? but not enough to drip onto the ground even if the car was to stand for a long period of time.. and said that i should wait until the smoke gets worse and dont worry about it Hmmmm just as i thought they would say really. But to be fair to them, it is intermitent smoke at the moment, so now i must wait and see what happens. []
yogi- Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 Had a chat with a TURBO technitian today from (BOSCH Auto electrical and turbochargers) based at Manor Road in Erith. lots of info generaly, but re the TD04 in the WRX, he asked me if it was water cooled which i think it is? He then said that the smoke problem may be caused by a blocked oil return pipe to the sump, or that the seals are just worn. He asked me for a part number so that he can get all the technical details on the TD04 turbo for me, but if anyone has info on this subject i would be gratefull for your help [Y] Now i have water leaking into the passenger footwell [st] [li] I think my car was half built on a Friday then finished on the Monday [:'(]

Thats not a good start when the turbo technician has to ask you about the turbo!!!
yogi- Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 They cater for trucks and plant engines only, but they also handle the odd diesel car turbo, so a scooby is not their market, anyhow he said that he would be happy to help anway he could
