Its probably because of a surplus build up of some bit and pieces they have acquired cheaply or brushed up from assembly [], package it and sell it as a limited edition. Sorry a nearly limited edition you have to buy the additions too, so its a special super duper limited edition model. Who's thinks of these things at Subaru, surely they must do market research and see what people want and say.
