  1. As a rough guide it will usually be from £80 up to £150 per hour depending on where you go etc.

I usually end up paying for between 1 and 1.5 hours for a remap/tweak.

    Cheers Iain

Think your selves lucky, Simon (JGM) does all my mapping, not convinced he charges an hourly rate but i could be wrong. He will work on the car until you the customer is happy and also he is happy himself. There is an outfit close to me that does the hourly rate and it took them 4 days to get a car running right. I wouldnt fancy the hourly rate on that job! Most reputable Simtek dealers charge for supply fit and map all in one price. Any further work is a tweek as they have your map in their libary and will charge accordingly.

There is no licence on Simtek, you could however purchase the user software on the dongle is you so wished. Simtek mappers have a dealer network whereas if JGM needs access to an Andy F mappped ECU he has to go through the relevant parties and vice versa. Most of the top mappers work hand in hand should that instance occur. They are not tin the business of poaching trade. I saw a thread yesterday on a well visited forum where JGM refused to map a car as it had previously been done by another well known tuner.

Sorry for the long winded explanation, i often think mappers dont get the credit for their work. As for these so called Mappers using OS software, well each to their own if folk are prepared to take the risk. Currently running Ecutek on my car, yes i payed a licence fee however i know the car is safe at just over 400bhp. It will be along time before the OS guys can shake off the wannabe image. Ecutek supply their software to reputable mappers as do simtek Syvecs etc, if these guys were as good as they make out they would have it. Just my 2p worth on a ramble. There is a massive debate on another forum about this subject, basically in short i can download the OS software suite and become a mapper. Now who wants me to map their car lol.

No i didnt think so, but the newbie will see the offer no Licence fee a few hundred quid cheaper Bargain. The engine builders within the community are going to strive out of this OS crap. For those that have seen the Os V Ecutek thread, did you notice none of the OS ,mappers have mentioned their company name lol.

  2. I would be very carefull with that car. If the applied model code he has given you is correct then the car is more than likely a ringer! That applied model code is from an MY97 UK impreza.

The car is clearly a JDM car so it would not have K in the code after the E. It has a rear wiper which only the JDM got minus the P1/22B. The interior is also a Phase 1 Jdm car.

Check it 100% before going any further, i wouldnt go near it!

UK model codes can be found here, that car is a JDM

  3. Well its been along time since i was on, im sure there will be some on here i still know. Over a year i believe due to some life changing matters but would love to get back in the fold.

So Hi to all those that remember me.

  4. Over here in Northern Ireland we just had a Scoob V Evo shootout. Out numbered by several big power Evos the Scoobs bought it home on the 1/4 strip and on the handling circuit at Bishopscourt! Some of the Evos were running 700+ horsepower, the scoob with the most power was a P1 with 500! Have driven evos, nice looking but i would never buy one!

  5. Well done mate, all my family have an RAF background but i joined the Army, my dear old Dad said i would not last 6 weeks! I Think i have proved him wrong as im just finishing a 23 year Career lol. Good choice of Service, there are pro and cons of being in the forces but as Rob has said the RAF do tend to treat you better, (Pink n Fluffy lol)

Good luck with the new Career and after your training im sure you will find yourself on a OP tour so keep safe. Im 39 and dont have any problems with the fitness in the Army. I can still do 8 miles with 25KG on my back in under 1 hour 50 mins!

  6. How bizarre....I had emailed a guy off eBay a few weeks back about these, and have been mailing back and forth..guys called Bren, so imagine my surprise when I follow that link and find its the same guy flogging them on scoobynet :) (incidentally, why's he not on here selling them?)

Very informative euro, thanks.....hopefully it will be the apex's then, provided he doesnt sell out

I doubt he will run out for too long, he ships in bulk orders, thats how he passes the discount to the customer which is always nice. You do not need to be a full member for the GB just a SN user!

  7. quick jump in...I am looking to get sommat for my classic, and had originally put a post about some Apex coilovers, however there is a TEIN BASIC DAMPER COILOVER KIT on ebay for roughly the same price as the Apex coilover kit that i was going to buy.

what would be the better option between the Tein and the Apex?

    cheers :)

Ive got the Apex/BC set up on mine as have a few others, interesting note these are manufactured in the same facility as the D2 kits only branded and priced different, its the same story for K sport brakes. Anyway a comparison has been done and you can read it on the link below.#

  8. Mark, sincere condolences mate to yourself and the rest of your family at this sudden loss. I know how you are feeling mate, i lost my Dad in 91, i was in the gulf at the time, they did their best to get me back but it wasnt quick enough. Your Dad was surrounded by his loved ones when he left our world, may he rest in peace forever.

  9. Also if you have the money bin the chip and get the ESL board! You get the software free so can tinker with certain aspects of the map. Get a 97 onwards map sensor fitted while your there to increase your boost threshold! Your current one is limited to .9 bar it can be crudly upped but better to use the 2 bar sensor from a later car!

Stick with some 440,s as the car wont make over 340ish due to the maf, but you could always fit a Version 4 maf with a few wiring mods! Then the turbo becomes the limiting factor! Its all money lol

  10. OK mate you will need the kit below in the link, on the early cars if you fit a 96 kit you have to cut the valance back quite a bit to get the pipework to fit and also the throttle hardpipe will need cutting. Thats because the 96 onwards car uses a different throttle body. So to save getting the grinder out get the specific kit, i believe A88 and HKS are the only ones that do them, the Hybrid would need modding to fit!

The pics are the same just order 92-95 and you should get the Air filter hard pipe with it and the correct bends in the hardpipes for TB etc without cutting the front valance away!

  11. Filled up with V-Power Racing 100 (They've renamed it recently in Germany!) @ €1.449/l (~£1.16/l) - So not really any cheaper in Germany any more, although we do get 2 extra RONs!

It used to be alot cheaper than that for me, i miss Germany lol

  12. Wow, that is early! We've not even had snow over here yet - Well, not at ground level B)

Still, enough has fallen in the mountains to go for the first ski trip this weekend :rotfl:

Have fun Al im jealous lol, keep me updated on the piste mate, may take a weekend trip over sometime.

  13. LOL, Left a country with 100 rated V-Power and other brands at 100 now in Northern Ireland you cant get anything over 97! Think its time to get JGM over for a Meth map in the new year lol.

97 is 98p a litre, is it the same on the mainland?
