Last week on my return from Arrochar to Glasgow I went via the A83 road to Garelochead as I usually do when its dry . . . . . a few miles down the road I remembered about the single track road over Glen Douglas that joins the A82 at Inverbeg. . . bright idea . . . I can pretend I'm on a 'special stage' as I knew there were a few hairpin bends on the way up.
All was going well up the hill in 2nd & 3rd gear blasts . . . . got to the top of the hill went over the cattle grid . . . the tarmac gets slightly narrower . . . . there is no verge . . . only a ditch on each side a least two feet deep and at least the same in width . . . . my head says slow down . . . so does my a**e . . . . I slow down. Just as well I did as round a bend shortly after I confront a Police Patrol car, a 4wd Nissan Terrano . . . . one of us had to reverse to a passing place . . . PC Plod starts to reverse . . . about 5 yards later he is in the ditch . . . vehicle at 45 degrees . . . . 2 wheels in the air . . . axle grounded . . . I manage to squeeze by trying to stop pissing myself . . .
Who says its only women who can't reverse???
