  1. is it the de-catted downpipe he is throwing in or is it just the de-catted un-resonated centre section???? if it is just the centre and back box then all you will notice is a slight noise increase and will not require a remap.
  2. << i have been running car on super unleaded but i feel its not running rite (its running a bit sick) is it due to the fuel or something else thanks for any advice >> Erm forgive me for being pedantic here but what exactly do you mean by "running abit sick"??? does it cut out and hesitate on throttle? does it idle rough? does it come on boost then cut out feeling like you have hit a brick wall? How many miles does it have on the clock? do you get these symptoms only when cold or also when warmed up? It may be as simple as a bad batch of fuel but more info is needed to eliminate alot of possibilities and for people to give a more informed opinion oh and welcome
  3. I had the turbosmart vta on mine..........................binned it not that long ago and put the original back on!!! The reason............my oil was stinking of petrol and my oil temp went through the roof one day for no reason, now whether that was a result of the vta i dont know. Conflabbed with the Oracle (squirrel) and came to the conclusion that the petrol could have degraded my oil hence making it thin alot. This is not set in concrete as the reason but it is the only possible one we could come up as my car is treated with kid gloves. Since changing the vta and my oil i have had no problems whatsoever, ok so i have lost the nice loud pop bang on gear changes but my engine means alot more to me than pops and bangs. Take from this what you will but i know what i am doing from now on and anyway my induction noise is better than any vta i have had.
  4. I had the STI one and achieved good results from it. As for the pipework........don't really see any need unless you are going for big power or for the tart look
  5. FFS.................... at least 10 pages of drivell!! No wonder people are leaving or thinking about it If you are all that infatuated then get your lazy ar$es along to the meet and see for yourselves............last time i looked i thought this thread was asking for info about subarus!!
  6. At least you are back Brian..........you going to try and get another STI???

  15. << be aware of people trying to sell you their cars, mates cars etc!! they want rid of them. >> sounds to me like you are saying everyone trying to sell their car is a con merchant, not a good advertisement for what are alot of nice cars on here that are trying to get sold By the way..........who was bleating on about selling his the other week and post up FS posts on here???? mmmmmmmmmmm.......i wonder!!
  16. << is not that much slower than a turbo. >> lmao Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally???
  17. i fail to see just exactly what he took the p1ss out of..............maybe on the straights yes but it was like a wet fish in the bends
  18. whos car is this??? knockhill
  19. << So you think I'd be better forgetting about my scooby for another couple of years If I do that then I could go straight for the turbo ..... ohhhhh what a decision to have to make. I'm dying on getting my scoob, but I'm trying to be sensible about it which is hard cos my heart is kinda ruling my head !! >> to be honest i would put the turbo on the back burner just now and save like a demon for another wee while. Get the sport, still bags of fun to be had, even on the light modding front But then again the choice is entirely yours, you know what your financial constraints are and as has been said many a time..........listen to your head not your heart. Your time will come, might just take a tad longer than expected Remember............a scooby is for life not just christmas!!!!
  20. << << There are quite a few members/ forum user's from West Lothian ......... There is a local meet next Tuesday ........ Check out the " Lothian's Meet " thread . >> Ooooh we meet up do we !! But I ain't got my scoob yet ......... so am I still allowed ?? >> Am sure no one will mind if you go along and introduce yourself. Get a good nosey around the cars and speak to people first hand to find out all the info you want
  21. << << Insurance is going to be the killer............unless of course you get the sport to start with or you have just won the lottery!!! If that is no problem then make sure that when you view any cars that you take someone with you that actually knows what they are looking for when it comes to subarus. Also don't just settle for the first one you see, there are plenty of second hand cars out there...........some are pigs and some are not, take your time and spend wisely!! >> Hey Lottery I wish !!! No I have saved up hard, just a bit worried that once I buy the scooby I'm gonna find the up keep the killer. going by what you are all telling me, that might just be the case. Think I need to sit down and do the sums before even starting to look for my car !! >> good idea.........the last thing you want is to buy one then 6 months down the line have to get rid of it because it is crippling you in running costs. Check all your figures out and if you find it is not going to happen just now then go get a good sport version, you can still have fun.........ask Rubythescooby!! she has one. get a couple of years insurance under your belt with that then when the big 21 comes along look at treating yourself again but to a proper one...........a turbo!!
