    Truly is... he was a super nice guy as well, he was really into cars, he offered me a drive in his car but I had to decline as I had to be back at the office, I can only imagine what it must have been like, my WRX was at 335bhp...600bhp holy cow!

    I was at the performance garage yesterday having my car put on the rolling road again after I screwed up the program trying to increase the tickover, on Chrysler's you can have a hand held programmer called a Diablo Predator, it the hottest thing around at the moment, but unless you know what your doing you had better only do minor adjustments like increase rev limiter, increase gear shift points etc. Anyway I was in the shop when a middle aged guy pulled up outside in what turned out to be a MY05 STi, he had come in to pick up a couple of bottles of nitros, I got talking to him and he has thing tuned to over 600bhp without the gogo juice and what I thought was a guy in his early 50's turns out to be 71!!! I nearly fell over, I asked him what it was that kept him looking so young and he said three things...driving fast cars, driving fast bikes and having an ugly wife :)

    Oh and he still works full time...I would not want that but at 71 he has got to be the oldest guy I know that not only drives a performance car but also is still into modding and driving at the track, thats what the nitros was for.

    Did A Little Break Down Of What My Car Costs Stood Still

    Was doing my accounting this week, it relax's me until I see how much life costs and did a breakdown of what my car costs me to stand on the drive and have a yearly minor service

    Its a 2006 2.5 STI that I bought with 5k on the clock.

    Actual cost of pure Finance, Insurance, Road Tax and 1 service per year

    £5747.46 per year / £495.52 per month / £110.52 per week / £15.78 per day

    Does not take into account ware items (Tyres, Brakes, and Clutch etc.)

    Dare not do it with fuel and all the rest, probably work out around the uk national average wage!

    Whats The 4wd Like In The Ice?

    This'll be my first winter with the impreza, where I live it's hilly, and curvy, and icy! When I had my passat I knew when it was icy because the wheelspin was mad.

    I assume patchy ice will be harder to spot with the 4wd? Any tips?

    The 4x4 will help you set off quicker but it won't help you go round corners any quicker, thats the bigger misconseption...I found out the hard way!

    Actually there's four if you include Mark in the US!

    Actually, It might be 4 and a half!!!! my eldest son should have his US licence by next April, I have promised to sort out his first car, he will pay me back by doing work for the company. I was going to buy him an old beater for about $5k but when you look at three years ownership against a deal Subaru have on their base Impreza, which comes with insurance, all told it works out just as cheap or expensive whichever way you look at it to lease one over three years, so it looks like I will go down this route and offset the cost against the business..so end up being better off!

    I thought there was about to be a recession over there! Too much spare money floating about for that though lol. As AL has said about 400 on std internals!

    I keep hearing about it, although I have not seen anything except, I sell copiers and I have noticed the leasing companies are getting very picky with their credit decisions!

    Looks like we all agree that we bought our current cars for how they drove and sounded and made us feel not because thay had nice seats and cup holders. It's a shame with the new WRX that subaru think differently but its good to hear from WildMark who has had the pleasuer of driving one that the new STi is spot on.

    Time will tell and I doubt Subaru will stick by a format if it fails to get them the sales they want.

    The only problem I see with the fact that the WRX is lame and the STi is great is that many if not the majority on here have the older WRX, they will either end up buying something else or going to the STi, not everyone can afford to go that far.
