  1. Mate i am totally gutted for you. I was luckier when mine went on fire on the M8, I got lucky when someone passing chucked me a fire extinguisher.

Glad everyone was safe and nobody got hurt. I hope you manage to get good money and get decent new mota from it. Just make sure its another white one. Come on the whites!!

    Take care mate

  2. Yeah, I thought that about the No U-turn sign, its only illeagal if sign posted not to do it... fair play if it was...

I also agree that Ive had some good experiences with the bobbies, where they have been helpfull, but then at least once, Ive had the whole 9 yards from them, when there was really no need... just being utter bawbags... well, actually 1 of 3 was, but the other 2 were decent enough... theres never a need for being unpleasant, no matter who else you have to seal with, I think that a lot of bobbies have to reaslise that not EVERYONE is scum, and that they are, at the end of the day, on public show, and therefore shoud be polite att all times unless the situation calls for it.

    Just my 2p...

And, in reponse to Coulty's comment, I knda agree with you there about the amount of crime thats been stopped by checking cars, but then I think that really, you should have a justifyable reason to search it in the first place... I watch those programes on the TV all the time, and yeah, theres a lot of times that I think that the search is justified... but not always...

At then end of the day no matter what the police do they are going to be scruntinised by the public and looked at in some negative way. The general public's perception of what policing should be and how it is actually done are world's apart. All i will say is that if a stop is needed then it will be done no matter what reason you think in your eyes is right or wrong. AND dont forget the fact that police officers are just as human as the public so yes sometimes they get it wrong. The only difference is they don't have to justifiy stopping a car to the driver just the reason why.

  3. av never had a wallet either ,the cop said so u dont even have a wallet on u asif a was telling fibs ,a had ma bank card in ma pocket but never showed them it , was also told a was already attracting alot of attention driving a car like that as if they had already been talking about me lol, no asif a drive like an a*** about town

You know if the police didn't stop cars (which is in their power btw) then a lot of illegal activity would never be found. It is amazing when you stop a car and it turns into a whole different situation. Also after stopping and checking the details again its amazing what it turns up. You would be surprised how many owners of expensive cars choose not to tax/mot/insure them.

  4. I have always been kind of a sceptic of knock values. I remember back when i had a Knocklink i regularly had it red lighting at KH (as grant will confirm). I then got the Apexi and still when andy set it to light at 50 i still sometimes see 60+ when booting it. Sometimes it is carbon build up on the plugs that burns off then you don't see high values again. The early cars also tend to be more active when it comes to knock. I put it down to either the knock sensor itself or its location. Put it this way, as long as andy mapped it safely you can go out and drive and not worry about looking at the bloody knock value. The problem with gauges is that most people worry too much and keep looking at them and not enjoy the driving.

    Hope that helps cal

  5. Just a few wee points to add -

Personally the 18's are my favourite's from the current range, as it's the wife's motor, I'm sticking to Subaru parts, so no messing about with the warranty ( wouldn't say no to a set of Advans if someone is feeling generous!!)

I'd rather not need the mudflaps, but have to be realistic in this country. Subaru in America started fitting the paint protection panels on the cars as they suffered terrible from road rash up the sides and so I reckon mudflaps are the only way to go and tbh the rally armor are really good quality and look the best that I've seen.

May go for a front splitter Colin, but I'm undecided on the exhaust surrounds as they seem overly chunky.

Original plates are in the boot (just in case) but I specifically picked these ones as the last time I got pulled they reckoned the letters couldn't be recognised by ANPR, think you'd have to be blind not to notice these letters (unoficially the copper said he didn't mind the subaru badges at the side and bottom, although he obviously never told me this!!)

Andy, the wife's favourite from the range was red, then the black one came up!! Couldn't resist having one of the only black type UK's in the country at the mo, although that will change as they bring more in!!

Craig, as you know mate, I don't mind detailing people's cars, but the weathers starting to head wintery and although I have a garage you can get a car in, it's not big enough to get around, so probably will have to wait until early next year before I can do any more. Colin (playsatan 2) got really lucky as it was heavy rain in the morning, the rain went off just before he arrived, then started again when he left. lucky or what?? May have to consider one of those collapsible Gazebo's, like Halfords has!! Oh, and also, my wife's pregnant, so come April next year I may be very busy and it'll have nothing to do with cars!!

Again, thanks for all the comments guys

    Mike

Love the look of the car now. Not so sure about the illegal number plates!!

  6. You can remove your carbon canister, but id advise not doing so!!

It traps the excess vented fumes from both the fuel tank and the system itself.

1: in doing so you may cause the ECU to wibble and it wont like that!

2: youll be venting fumes *they are flammable still!* into atmosphere right where you get some heat!

3: a small spark or some sort of iginition source will ignite the fumes vapour and poof!!

    so my advice?

You can do it as we dont have them on the race cars. The vents need to be blocked under the bonnet and their scources vented to atomsphere OUTSIDE the car.

Its just for emissions reasons, so its not necessary. But i do have to ask WHY do you want to remove it? It will NOT EVER make any more power, and the weight saving is in the Grammes, so unless you competeing in the top classes this seems a pointless excersize costing money and making work.

My god most of that is utter crap.

    1. Nope ecu won't be affected

    2. Nope they won't burn

    3. Nope again

It will not cost any money and i can assure you it won't cause any harm. I have been running without one for 5 years now with no issues.

  7. pretty sure red tops were sti ver3 onwards ver2 was silver and had the coilpacks on the side of heads not up top who knows what that engine is. maybe ask for the engine codes to check them Greig

Actually thats wrong too. Sti 2's did have a red manifold. Only the ra and wrx didn't.

  8. Was a great day. Had loads of fun. Pity my up-pipe blowing with an hour to go cut things a little short but apart from that the car was going like stink and left a few out there standing. The wife had fun too on her first time out in a car on track. Thanks go to those that have helped me with my car (colin and johnny) and to those who have come to support me, drb5, my bro and most of all the wife for bearing with me through the last 5 years of playing about with my car.

The time has now come to sell her and as much as dont want to my home situation has changed and i cannot afford to run her.

    Stuart

  9. you are braver than i am.....i total under your concern as driving a monster is very different to driving a tweeked scooby!!

Thats cause all you guys with high power cars are crap drivers and are always watching your gauges and not doing what i do....Ignore the gauges and the knock count and just give it some welly. Life is too short and with my luck i will need another engine rebuild soon :D

    LOL

  10. That's correct Peter. Stevie W said he will run the engine first then will do the rest of the modifications prior the Remap as far as im aware ...my fault showed of wrote above mods still to be carried out once engine is run in.. silly me !! thats the mods thats going to happen..soon

    Regards..

    Chris.

The turbo housing has already been rotated as can be seen in the last picture. The outlet on an MD turbo always faces the passenger side of the car so this one is facing the drivers side. Not rotated as in a garrett turbo i think you mean.

  11. yeh they clean them, then put lacker on them then recoat them & put them in the oven. once they r done they r hung out 2 cool down.
