I went along to the Swttenham Arms Si and I must admit was surprised by the numbers for a cold winter mid week meet. As for the end of year run I was one of the CADS that said they would go and had every intention of going however I creamed my brakes at Oultan (Andy J and Rob can confirm []) and was planning to fit new ones the day before the run but one of the pistons was jammed and I had to put the old ones back in, and I didn't think it was safe to go out with them. As for Scooby Net and SIDC, I would agree Snet is more active which definately is of benefit and gets more attention to the SMACS. The first meet I attended prior to CADS was an evening meet in Warrington via Snet, which usually got reasonable numbers although there has not been one of these for a while. Although it is now more difficult to attend evening meets as Ange works later these days. Andy[]

5th gear did a test with 3 fuels bog standard supermarket, BP Ultima and Optimax. Tested on 3 cars shopping trolley (cant remember what it was) Golf and Impreza. They ran each car on each fuel hooked up to dyno resetting the ECU between each run. The first two cars there was no difference to power or torque curves. The Impreza on the other hand gained 20-30 bhp saf ftlbs (cant remember the exact figure) but only on the Optimax no additioanl power with the BP. Therefore actual gain not placebo effect.

I've still got my original downpipe and midsection if you want to borrow it[Y]. Mine passed test with just the mid section in, however when I had it tested with both off it was not be out to much, if it failing by as much as you suggest is it running too rich? Andy

Well after Oultan exploits I finally have fully functioning brakes. New standard discs, Ferrodo DS2500 pads & Goodridge braided hoses. Not tried them properly yet but the pedal seems more responsive with less travel. Once bedded in I can try out the new tyres fitted last week, Goodyear F1's.

With regard to petrol most people run on Shell V power since Shell stopped doing Otimax. Some of the CADS hace tried some of the other petrol claiming 99ron but swore blind not to use it again (well known supermarket I think). Mine is a relative standard UK classic but I've allways run on Optimax then Vpower, although for the 1st couple months of ownership I did run on standard 95 but car was completly standard at the time. I have never used BP Ultima but after the test they did on 5th Gear a while back I wouldn't bother as it offered no additional power like the Optimax did. Not sure about your noise I don't have an induction kit. Andy
