  1. So decided to get the cars minor paint issues addressed.... like the stone chips on the front bumper, bonnet and wings and a light scratch on the rear passenger door. A few other bits and bobs..... £600

I've also put a new clutch in it £540

Belts only changed in the last 5k miles

Even what i thought was a simple front lamp failure turned out to be £80 by the time i changed lamps and ballast of the HID set up......

    they are greedy buggers eh??

All that said, drove my 7 series to work this morning and thats when you know the Scooby is worth every penny spent so far.....

I'll get some pics up of before, during and after...

  2. Hi,

Thought I'd drop a message on here for a company who expertly looked after my Impreza recently....

They are performance car specialists, very good to work with and Andrew the owner takes a great amount of time with you to explain works.

If your in the Glasgow area, and need your beloved car looked after... this is the place in my opinion...

I'll not go anywhere else now !!

  3. so, in my membership pack i got two large red stickers that I'm afraid don't go with the plan for the car

I was hoping that the window stickers were part of the pack, because i would have put them on the car....

  4. Aye, they certainly pull at you heart strings as well as your wallet ;).

Enjoy the driving experience, and if you can manage it, pop rounds to your next local or joint meet to share expertise and experience with some of the other lads & lassies.

    Where are you based?

Based in East Kilbride, will definitely be along at first suitable meet :Scottish-flag:

  5. My screen must be faulty its showing up as blue :P

I have to be honest and say it was originaly a black one i was after, but I couldn't track one down with condition, milage & history i was looking for at the right money....

So blue was next on the wish list.... is it just me or is it a darker blue than some of the others?

  6. If it didn't get a new one, which would be very stupid, it could have been damaged during gearbox removal, or removal from old pressure plate - easy done

Was last one slipping badly? Did you allow it to badly overheat for example?

release bearing was changed, slipping wasnt too bad to be honest... only happened when you gave it some @ around 3k rpm....

still working on solution, however judder has settled somewhat for now....

  7. Could be a number of issues, mainly installation wise.

Few things to clarify - did you get a new release bearing? (not shown in pics)

What was reason for removing old clutch?

He may have 'hung' the gearbox on the disc and bent it, easy done and this would give shudder/pedal vibration.

Was old clutch contaminated by oil at all?

Any mechanical noise could come from incorrect installation, realease bearing/fork issue.

Bottom line is it will need to come back out I'd imagine :(

    Thanks for your help :-)

Not sure about the release bearing, I intend to ask tonight. Thats really where i think the problem lies.

    Old clutch was slipping mate.

No oil present on original clutch.

is it possible that the release bearing is set incorrectly?

Yeh... i've got that sinking feeling it's coming back out too......

    :brickwall:

  8. Hi,

Looking for some support with an issue i'm having with a new clutch install. The clutch is a direct replacement for existing. Mechanic has done 6 impreza clutches in 18 months without issues. I'm taking it back to him, but would be nice to have more indepth understanding of whats going on...

Since the install (2 days approx 70 miles)i've been experiencing a few issues, I'm looking to understand if these are common and any support with rout-cause of potential faults.

    1. clutch is very grabby, when taking away in 1st gear especially (car shudders) is this typically part of the bedding in process.

    2. vibration present on clutch pedal when driving (if you place your foot slightly on clutch pedal) almost feels like something is not fully engaged / disengaged. Vibration is gone when clutch is pressed to floor.

    3. Light mechanical contact noise in line with issue #2. present when driving, most obvious @ 3k rpm and above, increases in speed with engine rpm and is gone when clutch is pressed to floor. best description of the noise would be like a metal pin rubbing against spring plates... i've included some photo's of original parts and new parts used (quality not great)

    other important information

    Clutch does not slip

    slight judder when changing down

flywheel not changed - very slight scoring but acceptable to mechanic

thanks to anyone who has any info to add...
