  1. Are KYB not the makers of the originals?
  2. Anyone have an opinion on BC coil overs? Seem to be a reasonable price compared to others. Are they good quality? Would be an upgrade over the standards but since my car will probably never see a track don’t really see the point on spending too much on coil overs
  3. Thanks for the reply and the link. If I were to fit an OE set how long would I expect these to last? Or is it more worthwhile saving up for something better?
  4. Hi guys. Another issue which I believe is quite common on here. Had a quick stop by my local mechanics last night to get a measurement for rear anti-roll bar bushings as he previously thought the knocking noise in my car was from here. Had a look underneath and they seemed to be fine. After a bit of investigating he came to the conclusion that the rear shocks had a bit of play in them and this was causing the noise.. My questions for you guys are 1. how much is this affecting the handling of my car 2. how long would these still last 3. which are the best replacement. Obviously coil overs are probably the best option but I don’t really have the budget for those right now after shelling out on the new brake kit I recently got Seems to be one thing after another at the moment! Sorry if this has already been posted a hundred times! Cheers, Martin
  5. Have been in contact with Alyn at as performance the last couple of days and he has managed to come just under the cheapest competitor (scoobyparts) and get me a small saving. Alyn has been a top guy to deal with Still a bit of a hit to the wallet in any case but looking forward to having a bit more confidence in stopping!!
  6. Heard back from them last night.. The discs are Pagid which are apparently oem bremobo equivalent parts. That explains the price!
  7. I know, i emailed back asking about that. Yeah i tried as performance but they were a bit more expensive than what ive found. So far scoobyparts is the cheapest for the most of it
  8. this is the quote - BREMBO HIGH PERFORMANCE FRONT BRAKE DISCS (330mm GROOVED- £75 each plus vat = £180) BREMBO HIGH PERFORMANCE BRAKE PADS (KEVLAR performance pads - £80 plus vat = £96.00 x2 front and rear = £192) BREMBO HIGH PERFORMANCE REAR BRAKE DISCS (Grooved £75 each plus vat = £180) GOODRIDGE UPRATED STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE HOSE KIT (£45 plus vat = £54) total price £606 plus £10.00 carriage = £616 I can offer 10% discount = £554.40
  9. Anyone ever used scooby spares for parts? I emailed asking for a price for my discs etc and got a quote much cheaper than anywhere else. Was just wondering if all the kit is genuine? Brembo 330mm front grooved discs Brembo grooved rear discs Brembo kevlar pads Goodrich stainless hose kit With 10% discount totals £554.40 What do you guys think? These parts totaled on scoobyparts add up to £887!
  10. Poked my head under the car quickly this morning at work. As far as i can tell i have no cat until the downpipe. So would i be correct in saying on a standard sti there should be 3 cats, downpipe, centre and rear?? Oh and my local mot station is a friend who ive made aware that subaru's atcually are made with no cats and they pass emissions like this
  11. Thanks for all the replies so far, they've all been really helpful. Scooby222 i have been told that there are two cats in the scooby exhaust system. Is this right? When buying the guy told me it had only the main cat removed. It doesnt have the PPP. I am up in aberdeen mate. Looks like you have the same car as me. If you dont mind what mods do you have to get 380 from it? Cheers
  12. Im away to get the rear anti roll bar bushings changed as they are causing some knocking. Last time it was at the mechanics he just did a quick fix to keep it going for a while. I would be happy with around 330-350 bhp. Obviously ive read of Andy Forrest on here, any rough idea the cost of a remap by him? Cheers
  13. thanks for all the info guys. Looks like i'll probably go for the brembo with goodrich hoses. The next question. Drilled or grooved??
  14. ive seen the pipercross ones and hks. Thought they are not a bad idea considering they arent too expensive either. No the engine light isnt on when i drive. I only know that the car had the decat and bov, didnt ask at the time if it was mapped.
  15. Thanks for the replies.. As far as I know the car hasn’t been remapped. I know you should when you’ve got upgrades but do you not get any power increase until you do this?. I have no idea what my car would be sitting at right now regarding bhp etc! That will be next on my list after recovering from the brake prices!! To be honest it will probably never be on the track with me. Would you recommend a panel filter or change it to one of the cone shaped intakes? Sorry for all the questions but ive never really modded a car due to previous cars being the likes of r32’s etc that I was happy to leave standard
  16. Hi guys, Ive been looking on here for a while and have just registered. I have an 05 sti which i got around july last year. Its all standard apart from a decat exhaust and a bov which were both fitted when i bought it. I need new discs and pads and although there is already a couple topics on here i just thought id check for what people recommend me. So far ive been looking at brembo on scooby parts. Not wanting to spend too much but i want something decent at the same time. Also any opinions on braded hoses and fluid? Makes etc? And is it worth putting in a different panel filter for better performance? Cheers, Martin
