  1. Frank, I've got a flat along by the harbour and am down a couple of days a week, when I'm not away. I am down just now and will keep a look out for you in future. Ian
  2. I'm in Musselburgh fairly regularly. Is yours the one with anthracite wheels that's often parked in North High Street? Ian
  3. Belated thanks once more to John S for organising yet another great day at Knockhill and especially for arranging such nice weather for it this time! Thanks also for the 2 photos of my car, which must have been taken quite late on as it looks like Wheelchair Scooby hang off the grab handle! Must have been towards the end of the straight, too, judging by the fact that the bottom of the mud flaps are almost horizontal! Glad you actually managed to enjoy it in your own new car! It was good to match a few new faces to names. Thanks again, Ian
  4. 105.9 on the way to/from Knockhill! Ian
  5. Hi, I have a Thule roof rack and a couple of their alloy bike carriers, which I am very pleased with. The advantage of a roof rack is that you can use it for other things too. The roof rack comes as components (bars, feet & fitting kit) so that you can just get a new fitting kit if you change your car, as I did recently (Classic to New Age). They do a variety of good quality bike carriers, depending what type you want and how much you want to pay, or you could probably fit most other manufacturers' carriers. Hope this helps, Ian
  6. Hi, Sorry to hijack this thread a bit but just wanted to pick up on st3ph3n's comments on a full decat and remap of an 06 STi as this is a route I am interested in. Does anyone have any recomendations for exhaust systems with approximate prices? I wouldn't want it to be too loud out of consideration for the neighbours. What power and torque ranges would be possible for a fairly "safe" remap together with a full decat? What is the going rate for a remap? All help gratefully received. Ian
  7. Neil, I was actually doing all that while you were doing that post! I had to e:mail Phil to get it enabled but it works now! Thanks for all the assistance with it, Ian
  8. Neil, That's very helpful but how do you get an avatar set up in the first place. I am a paid up member and would like no. 34 - "STi & Impreza" badges. Can you tell me how to go about this? Regards, Ian
  9. Russell, Thanks for that, I really like it and it is getting better and better all the time. Not sure what the next addition will be, though. Any ideas? Painting the letters on the tyres was something I used to do many years ago. I think it works quite well with the black car & silver wheels Hope you enjoyed the cream eggs! Thanks again, Ian
  10. Many thanks to Russell (Wuz) for Fitting my new set of Amber Defi BF Gauges today. They are a great match for the 2006 STi instruments and I am really pleased with them. I had considered doing this installation myself but, having seen what was actually involved, I am glad that I waited a bit longer to get Russell to do it for me. There was a potential problem with a recalcitrant gallery plug and a bit of trial and error to find the right switched feed for the set up I wanted. However, Russell was good-humoured and persevered despite these causing the job to take a bit longer than otherwise expected. He had also painted the pod black with the inner panel silver/grey which is a good match for the main dash. A good job well done! Thanks again Russell. Ian PS - I decided to travel up and down through Glenshee just to add to the fun of the day!
  11. I agree that anthracite would look better on your car. I think that wheels are better when they contrast with the car colour. Silver is too close to Crystal Grey, but does look good against black. I do quite like the standard wheel style though and bought a spare unused gold set. If you do decide to go for something different, let me know if you want to sell/swap the silver ones. Ian
  12. Well done. I'm sure that you will really enjoy it. There can't be many of the original 300 left by now although I did see one at Eden Subaru in Cupar last week, at £22k (I think). £20k is an excellent price considering they were £28.5k just a year ago, even taking account of the £3k free fuel offer they had going. I went for a Euro one in black and have been very pleased with it so far. It is very different to to classic I have had for more than 7 years! Have fun when you get it, Ian

  14. Just got all those too (except for the "shiny" bit) and a lower grille. A set of Defis just ordered, but won't be fitted until Wuz returns in the new year! Ian
  15. Hi, Have you ordered one yet (while they still have £20 off)? You are welcome to have a look at mine, if it would help you to decide. I usually pass around the west side of Edinburgh a couple of times a week. Regards, Ian PS - Nice photos on the other thread. I assume your wheels are actually gold.
  16. Neil, Yes, you need to drill 3 holes for the fixing screws. There are then 3 metal load spreaders to go behind the panel. I replaced their small rubber washers with larger tap washers. All very easy to do and quite inconspicuous when fitted. It certainly looks good and should come as standard! Ian
  17. Hi, I have just got & fitted one from Revolution, along with their front splitter. Both went on fairly easily and improve the front of the car. Mine is a black one too! Regards, Ian PS - Forgot to say that Subaru do a plastic(?) Prodrive one at £150 part no SACC2615. This is the one that they fitted to the UK spec D.
  18. Hi, The manual suggests getting the dealer to do this. Has anyone done it themself? If so, how do you do it? Is it particularly difficult? Likewise, the side repeaters? Any help gratefully received before I order new bulbs. Thanks in advance, Ian
  19. Not sure if they are what you want but try scoobyparts.com. I have just ordered some from them for my mudflaps. Ian
  20. Hi guys, many thanks for the prompt and useful responses. Thanks also for the welcome but it should really be a welcome back! I have actually been an SIDC & (original) Forum member since 1999 but haven't been to any meets or track days for ages. However, I am sure that the prospect of a new car will change all that. Can I just pick up on a few of your points? Why are the service books sent later rather than with the cars? What do you have to do to register the car with Subaru UK? Will probably use the car for a while before thinking about PPP or other mods. Some people seem to think that the 1st 3,000 service is actually necessary. Does using a "specialist" invalidate the warranty? If so, I would probably continue to go to Nobles. Forgot to mention that I have paid MP a deposit to bring the car up from Derby. I am hoping that it might be here later this week so that it could be on the road next week. Thanks again for your comments. Ian
  21. Hi, hoping to call upon your recent experience & knowledge. Have had my UK MY99 from new and am looking to change. Am interested in a euro import STi spec D from Motorpoint. Have searched various threads and think the situation is as follows : - Pros - £6,000 cheaper than UK car (but see below) Covered by pan-european warranty (but see below) No "add-on" stereo or sat nav (which I don't want) Available in black (which I prefer to crystal grey) No more to insure than UK car Cons - Don't get £3,000 of free fuel No alarm, tracker or locking wheel nuts (say £1,000) Warranty runs from date of manufacture, not purchase Have to register with Subaru UK for warranty to be valid Warranty repairs have to be authorised by Cyprus/Malta Prodrive Performance Pack would invalidate warranty Have to pay labour on 1,000 mile service Have to have 3,000 mile service No lower grille Have to sell old car privately to get reasonable value Is this all correct and have I missed anything significant? Would appreciate contact from anyone who has done this recently. Thanks in advance, Ian
