  1. Right the cars developed either a series of problems or a cnut of single one!

Started to notice it being a bit harder to start, a few more cranks of the engine than normal.

Car has been religiously and faithfully serviced and maintained, on recent rear pad change i noted the breather on the fuel filler neck had quite badly corroded. I repaired it and inevitably there was the crap falling into the tank, filter replaced after two days (time to allow it to catch any shit passing the pump)

during the course of a few weeks the starting problem has slowly gotten worse and developed a stutter or mis on boost with fairly low boost pressure, a quick check of hoses vac pipes etc revealed nothing, fuel filter changed beginning of week and fuel in it was a total mess, almost black in colour, with globules of water in it, I cut it open and found it to be full of debris, new fuel filter didn't ease the problem, then swapped the pump with another one I had the gauze bag on end of pump was also minging, car ran pukka afterwards now the tank is clean no shit in it, and filter showed as clean even on cutting in half. This morning it failed to start, a check showed it had flooded, cleaned and dried the plugs it fired right (new plugs will be fitted today as soon as halfrauds opens)away but now it stutters and hesitates worse than before, could it be the pump at fault?

Car has had no modifications since start of the problems, no fault codes show up, restrictor pill is in as should be, and no changes to fuel or ignition system have been made. again since fault or recently prior to fault occuring.

It is an MY97 UK turbo2000 Catalunya, mods are de-cat, pipercross air filter, with PFR7B plugs and magnecor leads fitted.

The loom from the gearbox speed pick up(?) recently shorted on the exhaust but was repaired pretty much there and then, the o2 sensor hasn't been checked but diagnostic check via green plug connectors shows no fault.

  2. half the battle is spineless wretches, if everyone who was due to buy road tax on say april bought it 2 days late then the govt would sit up and take note, esp if may-june-july etc went the same! obviously everyone won't do that and many keyboard warriors will type fancy long winded speils of inspiring shite but unless the majority of people actually do something then the govt and successive govt's will continue to use their subjects any way they choose.

As for Toyota prius's and the happy clapping save the butterfly brigade they annoy me to the point i would rattle them right off the road in a temper if i wouldn't damage the scooby, self righteous up their own ar5es.

that's me started for the day now then pmsl.

  3. Ha haaa! nope that wasn't me.. But did wonder what happened to the cone after it dissappeared when the Mk2 went by :)

Saw a few scoobs parked up at stages but didn't recognise any of them sadly.. At least my car is fairly obvious even if you haven't seen it before :D

so that's the moment of vanish for the cone lol. think I remember seeing your scoob parked facing up-hill on the straight bit? mine was the black Catalunya parked on corner by the marshals that were directing the cars just on the corner. Then I took a 'shortcut' at the last stage and went a feck of a long way to the staage through the trees pmsl.

  4. ScoUK on the first stage were you the chap that moved the tyre and cone off the road that the MK2 pulled along from the hairpin? I was stood just to your right if you were. Picture below lol at first I thought it was actually the scort that had threw a tyre off.

  5. Sorry bout the caps lock.

My mate has got himself an impreza, reg mark T641 HFV it's vin plates tell me it's an RB5. Just wondered if anyone here knew the car previously and could tell me a bit of it's history. When it was smashed etc and how badly, why has it had colour chnge etc.

  6. Just did a search and this story about him came up first! used google cache to read it though, so he's obviously had it removed recently.

    Chris.

About his drink driving i take it?

He got me off with driving while disqualified, and inhis words '**** me stevie your record's serious, if you get a guilty he'll jail you for 18mths'

and before any high and mightier than thou types get on their podiums.........don't pass judgement if you don't know the details of the whole mess!!

  7. Try FIrst Central Fully Comp, thery are one of the most ridiculously organised companies I've ever dealt with, but were about 200 per annum cheaper than any other company for me, and I've been (so the judge reckoned, my point of view differs) a naughty laddie in the past...like actually not very good in the slightest.

  8. Slightly off-topic, I use screenwash from Lidl or Aldi (not sure which) and it's never frozen up on me, even if screen is hard ice covered, a scoot from the washer bottle clears it instantly, last year on way to the Snowman Rally, we went across Rannoch moor the temp gauge showed -13 and even with the windchill factor they still never froze. It's only a £5 or so for 5 litre bottle and wsell worth every penny.

  9. I went t ae rumbl round the backroads in just after we had a bit of snow flurry here at weekend, It's got Yoko advan's onnd while in the town I felt they really lacked in grip, when reached the back roads (they were mostly ice covered in a 10-15mm snow) they actually seemed to do ok, car was sideways through most of the corners but this was on roads at 4am that i drive daily and know like the back of my hand.

I've always used klebers in the winter months and neve really had any bad problems. This will be my first winter in a scoob though. I'll be putting either Hankook V12 K0's on it next weeekend or uni-royal rainsport's.

  10. Speed camera's, Esp the ones on the A77 are a cheap alternative in order for the govt to show our happy clapping brigade that they are 'doing something' to protect the public from the mean and downright nasty evil motorists who go to fast. The real alternative would be to actually fix the problems on the 77, example, Symington turn off simple either put a roundabout in place or a flyover (which imo would be best option) or simply stop vehicles crossing the road, I've seen tractors and trailers heavy loaded doing U turns on that section of road, it's a bl00dy joke less than 2 mile each direction they can safely turn. That is far more dangerous than somebody doing 90mph on the sections they've turned into a 50 zone.

  11. It's easier than you would think, eh? That was about ten years ago when I was done - I reckon the stationary T5 must've been obscured behind some lorries travelling in the left lane. To be honest, I don't hold any grudge against the polis who stopped me - they're never going to let you off with three figures! However the fine and points that the local sheriff court rammed up me were excessive - I believed at the time as I still do that I was driving safely, and was perfectly aware of my speed and the road conditions, endangering no-one... Ach well, you live and learn eh?

So does removing this limiter affect your insurance then? A wee bit off-topic, I know - just curious :)

    Excessive,

a few years ago I got a few bans first one was in my SRi, 94mph, clear dry 0330 hrs, road completely empty...except for plod.

Pulled me over had a 'word' regarding my speed, which to be honest didn't seem to be bothering them to much, the one who was reading my doc's say's you've got alloy wheels marked on your policy, yet steel wheels on the car, (I'd hit a kerb couple days before and had taken the rim off one the alloys and put steel wheels on in place of) said that if i'd not had alloys on policy wording and had them on car it would invalidate ins...and promptly done me with no insurance, shock horror judge agreed, and banned for 24 months, which after a few more bans resulted in my lic being gone for years!

Either a pair of clued up cops or lucky. Either way they were 110% wanting to hump me before that and would eventually have got me, grief brought on in a lot of ways by myself but bit unfairlky at times by them, but s**** happens and can't expect to be an ar5e wi them one day yet them be cool when they have a legit excuse to pull me.

  12. :iagree: Might be worth noting as well that on the drivers side, below the bonnet there are two brass T pieces with brake lines going through them, it is located between the strut top and the bulkhead, if i'm not mistaken they are attached to the strut top, there is another nipple on it, helps get the fluid through if it's either none in system at all, as it should bleed the ABS unit itself.

But like Alistair say's above you can't really go wrong. Should you need to ease any caliper pistons back in do it slowly with an even pressure, don't give it wahoo with a hammer...i've seen it being done! :dunce:
