  1. I was about £1400 last year with 0 years NCB, garaged, 5k miles, 28 years old, v2 classic.

    Renewal came in at over £1450 with quick fit plus free MOT. Shopped around and got it down a bit, called Keith Micheals and they have got it down to £650 now moving my house insurence, business insurence and anything I can to them. Great service, great prices and the same person on the phone when you call back! :headbang:

  2. I've got a slightly ageing Canon EOS300D and it does awesome pics for a photographer of my standard. I'm guessing the newest model (an EOS550D I think)would be pretty cool.

    Very good choice we use lots of 300d's. Also recently bought a 550d and its awesome. Great camera, buy good lenses to match!

  3. The initial relevance is to thank Neil, as I know that he, as many others do, sometimes visit the site without logging in. I am always grateful for his help, as have many people been in the past, but few were quick to wish him well or try to change his mind when leaving. As for helping the Subaru community at large, I think you will find he will confine it more to people he considers friends, rather than the broader spectrum of this forum, which is a loss.

    If you are looking for a deeper meaning to this thread, it has about as much point as at least 50% of the threads on this site, so why shouldn't I post it?

    So why not title the thread "Big thanks to Terzo Neil" rather than implying that he is being slagged off. This way you could thank him publicly and if he visits the forum he could see it. You state that few were quick to wish him well, this does not mean that people are not thankfull of his services maybe they just know they will still see him. There were in fact 5 people wishing him well etc in the thread.

    It seems that you have a massive bee in your bonnet about the site(or some people) although you seem to be an active member . If you dont like it, do something about it! Negativity like "If you are looking for a deeper meaning to this thread, it has about as much point as at least 50% of the threads on this site, so why shouldn't I post it?" gets us nowhere.

  4. Not wishing to stir things up but I have no idea the relevance of this? I am sure that he is a nice guy, I am sure that he is a great help and has done so much for the Subaru community at large and will continue to. But who is slagging him off? What is the point of this thread? I was of the understanding that he was unhappy with the club and had decided himself to leave.

  5. Straight from the DVLA.

    Replacing your number plate

    When replacing your number plate you should make sure that the correct material has been used to manufacture the plate. It should be made from a reflective material. Front number plates must display black characters on a white background and rear number plate must display black characters on a yellow background.

    The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is not aware of any self-adhesive number plates that meet the British Standard requirements.

    Characters on a number plate can be 3D, providing they meet all the other requirements, but honeycomb or other background patterns are not allowed.

    Also, the characters on a number plate need to be a standard height and width.

    Your number plate should show the correct:

    * character height - 79 millimetres

    * character width - 50 millimetres (except the figure 1 or letter I)

    * character stroke - 14 millimetres

    * space between characters - 11 millimetres

    * space between groups - 33 millimetres

    * top, bottom and side margins - minimum 11 millimetres

    * space between vertical lines - 19 millimetres

  6. doesnt powder coating the alloys weaken the alloys themselves because you have to heat them up so high for the powder to stick ....

    The powder is "stuck" on electrostaticly(not a word I know) and is then "baked" to cure the paint at about 200oC for usually 8 minutes (like a chicago town pizza). Sometimes they will pre heat the wheel to get a more uniform finish, that said this can lead to major runs in the paint due to excessive powder.

  7. Mapping will sort it once I have a wide band and new ECU fitted. I am quite confident about the whole Link ECU thing. However, I am looking to get someone up to check the map (or remap if required).

    Oh and be ready for a phonecall of help to get the tubby out! :) - what? I don't understand?
