  1. Really? As we prefer modified cars to standard ones.

Also, we don't do multi-car policies, but can mirror your NCB onto a second vehicle

Ive looked on the website and you do the 2nd car insurance policy. Is that not really the same as a multi car? For me I guess it would be as ive only got 2 cars.

    Cheers.

  2. Handbrake adjusted, happy with that, less squealing. Have sussed that the hum or drone is happening when i turn left and also after i brake almost to a stop then roll for a few meters, very loud then. I ended up down a street with speed bumps, the red monoblock ones where you need to drive over at 2mph to avoid any scraping, when going over these, feck me, the noise was loud as! Any ideas?

  3. My subscription is due, so was just wondering what folks thoughts are on trackers, are they worth it? Do they find that it knocks some cash off your insurance or not?

Im thinking I do have some mods on the car that someone may fancy, rather than it being taken for a ride etc, so wouldnt want to loose the mods. I do have a decent alarm, immobliser on it and the car is never left in dodgy areas etc

Ive yet to check with my insurers as to whether my premium would rise if i didnt renew my subscription. I suppose if it did they it would be a no brainer to renew. i cant recall if having the tracker did lower it or not.

Perhaps the time of year is putting me off to be fair.

Any thoughts/experience good or bad with trackers?

  4. Cheers Baz

Will get the hbrake adjusted, havent been comfortable with it being so tight. The chap at the garage did mention an abs ring. I forgot to mention before that I have had it back with the hum noise but of course when we went out in it it decided to make no noise at all on that road test, so he had said to keep an eye on it.

Would fitting the new discs n pads have damaged the abs ring? It certainly wasnt giving any kickback prior to the fitting.

Is the car safe to drive with these issues?

    Thanks Mark

  5. Hello all, just looking for some opinions on a few issues i have from people in the know.

Had fitted rear grooved discs with mintex 1144 pads about a month ago. Everything ok for about 280 miles then whilst in a traffic jam noticed a noise/hum when the car was rolling at very low speed. Its doing it again when at low speed or turning at low speed and stopping, not all the time though. Also alot of squealing going on , sounds like its coming from the rear, also when turning, stopping and just rolling. And finally a judder with the brake pedal when stopping, just when stopping the car fully at low speeds a sort of kickback when about to lift off the pedal, not all the time but noticeable enough. No abs light on etc.

These issues only started since the fitting, no issues before. Car stopping well so brakes seem to be doing what they are supposed to.

Will say after the fitting my hbrake needed about 7 or 8 notches to engage properly, took it back and now its a bit of an effort to engage it to the 1st notch, ususlly prior to fitting it was 2 or 3 to engage. would this be the issue?

    any opinions most welcome

    Cheers Mark :)

  6. Cheer fellas. I have had a double check. Owners manual def says 60,000 and so on, but service and warranties booklet says every 50,000.

Will get it done. She was last serviced at 96,000 last year. Im curious, will I notice a difference after its changed? Running more efficently or anything?

  7. I am sure the newage is every 5 years or 50k whichever is soonest.

I am also due a 10 year/100k service and was planning on changing the cambelt. I did the last one at its 5 year service although I have only done about 25k miles since then.

What price did you get quoted? I assume it is not cheap! PM me if you like.

Hi James, no its not cheap, might shop about, will pm you.

  8. I have recd a quote for my next service form a well known centrally located specialist who i have used for a few years. Mileage is 103,000 miles so quote is for 100,000 miles service. They say its a small service plus the cambelt. I have chkd my service manual and it states cambelt to be done every 60,000 miles, so its not due until 120,000 miles.

    Looking for any clarification/opinions.

    Cheers.
