Agree with the above.... the cables are good, you can use it as just diagnostics or to give yourself some cool looking dashboard on a touch screen but I wouldn't go tinkering without knowing exactly what you are up to.

You will need Det cans and a Wide band to map properly, anything less and you are asking for a ££££ bill!

STI's always hold their money better than WRX's because of what they are...... I shouldn't expect to buy the car, mod it and then expect to sell it for the same money, mods count for nothing !

Change the Exhaust on the Blob STI, panel filter and fuel pump n remap and you will see 320 at the very least and could go up to 340bhp depending how agressive the map is

its a jap import what bhp are these are they a little more than uk mans just told me now..

supposed to be 280bhp ut will be more like 290ish

might of read on my other post i was going to do a swap with a sti but due to the serious clunking i decided against it only on full lock slow though !!,, i seen the bloke today in his garage just up the road he waved so i drove in, guess what he has sorted the problem took it to subaru the drained to oil and sorted it now he wants to no if i still want to do a deal with mine and 2500k !! its a my05 blob uk spec sti 35k its done. do i put the money in taht and get bhp i yern for or 1500 to 1800 in mine thats done 62k to get the bhp i give 6k for mine at a garage that failed to give me the service history they promised.. my heads up my jacksy give me help lads !!!!!

Do the swap if his car is clear of everything

STI top mounts are great bits of kit but a second hand one could set you back more than a new front mount so look around.

If you change the Top mount you will need to change the splitter and the scoop to get best results.

No one seems to have mentioned that the first serious up grade that should be done is to the WRX's standard... BRAKES!

They aren't great for 225bhp let alone 320+!

Why are you spending a small fortune modding a 03 WRX when a STi of the same year would have been the better choice Most of the parts on the STi are better suited to 320 straight out the box Far cheaper to buy and achieve 320bhp with a STi than mod a WRX to the equivalent

The cost all depends on the car he currently has i.e. low mileage very clean example v's a battered STI.... The WRX's hold zero money so the mods he has bought probably cost i nthe region of £1500 quid, that is a lesser amount of money than the gap between an STI and a WRX.

Granted the STI is a MUCH better car in terms of starting points to mod and I would never dispute that

You also have the insurance aspect of things, insurers don't really seem that bothered about mods anymore so long as you declare them to cover your own a***, they cover theirs by saying "thank you, we don't cover like for like but we have made a note of your modifications"

Agreed the brakes on the WRX are toilet but again this is an easy and cheap mod

The STI pinks are 565CC not 550's and are good for 370bhp so I don't think you are going to have any issues with them!!!

Yup remap is the last thing to do and I don't think you will be disappointed with the figures..... I think 320bhp is well within the limits of what you have fitted...... although the WRX top mount might hinder you slightly especially now the weather is warming up!

Yup, get all the mods together, get them fitted and then get it mapped or you will be constantly forking out to have it remapped everytime you change something substantial to the car...... Cost a fortun i nthe long run.

As BMWhere pointed out, it's the car telling you that there is an imob at work and that only the correctly encoded key will work in the car.

basically if an ECU is mapped with an ECUTek license on it the mapper will lock his map so you can't make any changes to it etc etc.

Tehre are a million tools around now that can rip the ECUTek map off of a car and be re-applied as an open source map thus giving your mapper a good base from which to start

Yes they can be remapped, it is the same ECU that came in the car mate, a PPP doesn't result in a different ECU, just a different Flash.

You can bolt damn enar anything on to these cars to make power, it just depends on how much power you want and how deep your wallet is as to what you purchase

Seriously mate, get it diagnosed and get it fixed... by fixed i mean mapped!!! You get all the power you need and the car will be properly sorted, not band aided by an FPR.

The car won't produce a great deal more power if the fit the FRP so you will still have the same low figures, let someone loose on it, there are many a good mapper around mate

I gave them a quick ring about the stereo brackets I need and also had a chat about my overfuelling and boost problem. Basically I was told I don`t necessarily need a remap. The overfuelling can be sorted a couple of ways....one way is to fit a fuel regulator, but it can be `tweaked` to fuel correctly. I also mentioned that the car wasn`t boosting high enough (1.3 bar at the mo). I was told by someone else that he`d map it to 1.5 but these guys said that 1.5 on a standard engine would wreck it. I`d be better off reducing the boost so that it holds it longer and doesn`t drop off so quickly. The `overboosting` could also be causing the fuelling problem too!!

I`m picking my brackets up on Friday and I`ll have a proper chat then and see what my options are

Based on the comment they have made about wrecking a STD bottom end on a Blobeye STI at 1.5 bar I wouldn't take the car to them and I wouldn't fix the over fueling issue with the FPR!!! There is clearly an underlying issue there somewhere....

Perhaps the FPR is faulty, but thiis car has been mapped previously so something must have gone a miss!!

It will take longer time wise to fit an FPR and get it set right than to have the ECU tweaked. I'm not sure they can get the fueling right for the entire rev range just by fitting the FRP because the fueling will vary and an FPR is a constant as far as I am aware.

Get it mapped mate, there are std bottom ends running 1.7 tailing down to 1.4 at the top end (although they will have had a turbo change)

The Std Turbo on a Blob will run 1.5 all day long provided mapped properly, panel filter and the exhaust you have will see you at 330bhp (I think I remember you having a sports cat and no Center cat)

It's not hard to do, it's just time consuming, Inlet manifold etc etc have to come off the top of the block. Defo worth doing!!

no no no chap, it won't need a new turbo soon if it is mapped properly but it defo won't make 450bhp on that turbo EVER!!!

The gearbox should be replaced with a 6speed, the 5 speeds are notroriously weak at high torque and bhp, it will strip itself.

A 6 speed newage STI convertion will cost you between £1700 - 2500 depending on the Box you get and the extras i.e. hubs etc

That car isn't capable to running 450bhp, the turbo on the car is barely capable of running 400bhp on a 2L engine!

If it is the std gearbox that won't last long either!

Other than that it is a very good looking car

Thats on Classics. Never heard of a newage suffering that from fitting a DV.

New ages are stronger n dont really suffer, plus he was wrong saying a DV confuses the MAF sensor, DV dump nothing back in front of the MAF recirc or not

the air flow in and out has altered but not massively so shouldn't cause you any grief although I do suggest a remap as these cars don't particularly like having things changed without the appropriate map changes!

Make sure you haven't knocked any pipes on your way i.e. caught the lines to the DV, boost solenoid etc as you could have caused a small air leak.

Failing that you might well have just been in a bit too much of a rush to change stuff and bashed the MAF about a bit too much..... Take the MAF out and give it a clean, shove it back in, start the engine and then disconnect the MAF, if the car stalls all is well, if the car continues to run you need a new one

If the car is running fine with the DV on then leave it as is..... And yup a boost gauge is ALWAYS a great add on to any Impreza, even if you are not running above std boost they do serve and a good diagnostic tool

my mates could hear the car from 3miles away, I had complaints for the house two doors down because it used shake the pictures on thier walls when I parked it between the houses

You will ALWAYS be trying to refill your wallet for mods now, it never stops

Everything on Classics blows MAF's......... Very sensitive cars Don't buy an induction kit, pointless exercise at the moement, save your money for something else as you are going to gain nothing with this kit that a decent Panel filter won't give you!

a dv won't break your engine if you are having the car mapped with it on........ People say that DV's can wreck the engine because they have a tendancy to make the car run a bit a lot richer at times causing Bore wash or some other cobblers like that.
