  1. I was hoping to avoid taking it to a garage right before xmas and hoping it may be something that i could replace myself, going on what i have described would it be worth changing the thermostat? is there a test i can do on the one i take out to see if thats the problem? i will more than likely get it to a garage after xmas if i can't solve it myself.

Any ideas on the interior fans? what to check/replace?

  2. I noticed the other day when driving to work and stuck in traffic that my temp gauge started rising, so much so it was going into the red until i hit an open road and the temp came down...first off i checked the oil and coolent levels which where all fine i also checked the fans where coming on when idle and they where, so i'm left wondering what it could be?? could it be the thermostat??

Secondly a problem that i have had for a while that i never seemed to have got sorted is the fan speed in the interior, basically its none exsistent especially on full power it just puffs out..i'd be better of blowing on my windsreen myself to clear it, any ideas to what is causing this?? and what is weired is that before any heat comes through i get a burning smell just as the heat decides to make an appearence!!

    Any help appreciated.

  3. I think its a load of bolloks if you all say you don't race!! if a little chav in his saxo, civic or what ever he has goes up your ass I want to floor it just to make a statement cos they obviously think they have a better/faster car and its a great pleasure to show them they don't..

When I say "race" I mean pulling away to show them up! and then just leave it, whilst chuckling to myself as they sit a fair distance behind you probably quite embarressed..after all what's the point in owning a scoob if your going to drive 30mph everywhere? you might as well buy a shed if you want to do that! a scoob is a drivers car not a 'sunday' drivers car!!

  4. I don't really use my boot much and had a bit of a shock when I opened it and found that the entire boot was leaking and had a nice pool of water in the spare wheel well B) ...it had also leaked into my backseats.. :P

I found the problem was with a seal on my spoiler it is basically none existent so all the water had been flowing in through there, any ideas where I can get some spoiler seals for 2001 bug??

    Cheers

  5. Hi,

Not sure about the headers work etc but when I replaced my turbo, injectors etc for a remap, I was getting the light

coming on....fault code was the EGT.

Just got a 2.2k ohm resistor from Maplin....cost pennies...and soldered that across the sensor wires which tricks it into thinking all is ok.

I have read loads about this, have you got any images of exactly what you did?

    Cheers

  6. I have just had over £1000 worth of work done on my scoob and about an hour after coming out of the garage the engine management light has come on again!! I took it back and they cleared the code saying it was nothing to worry about and guess what? its come on again....Now they are telling me its the exhaust gas temprature and I will need a new EGT Sensor?

Basically they replaced the headers with some stainless steel ones, a reconditioned Turbo and a OEM O2 sensor now I'm getting told this?

Is this dangerous for my car? could it cause any engine damage and will this EGT sensor solve my problem? and is this garage having me on?

    Cheers

  7. I'm fed up of looking through the my alloys and seeing some big rusty discs that look a bit worn and untidy, I want to get some discs that arn't going to look like rusty lumps of metal every time it rains but also at a resonable price, there are loads floating around on ebay like these for instance: item no: 300374363254 but wonder if they are actually any good..

Some pointers on some good discs on a small budget would be handy..

Also what wheel colour would you have given the choice on a world rally blue scoob:

    Gold

    Anthracite

    Silver

    Cheers

  8. There's a chance that water could get in to any induction kit, it's a risk you take with one of these bits of kit, but it would have to be a substantial amount of water to be fair as by the time it's got close enough to a white hot turbo it will have evapourated and the water would have to travel a hell of a long way.

Is your car an STI or a WRX? if an STI it hasn't been mapped at 280bhp if WRX it certainly has been mapped or at least had it's boost raised in some manor.

    It's a WRX..

  9. I have my car booked in for a wheel refurb on the 25th and i'm a bit undecided as to which colour i should get..

I want Anthracite but not 100% sure as i'm being told gold by some and silver from others.

Has anyone got any pics of anthracite colour alloys or any other colour that they think looks good?

    Cheers.

  10. If the car has been mapped for the K&N then keep the K&N mate, if it hasnt then take it off!!

The stardard airbox with a decent filter is good for over 400bhp so you certainly wont loose anything by changing back.

I think i have an airbox etc from my bugeye somwhere as I had to go induction kit with my FMIC, let me see if it is around anywhere

Well i'm not 100% sure if the car has been mapped as the garage i bought it from didn't know. my scoob is currently running @ 280bhp and I was told by some tuning guy that there was a chance that water could get into the filter being where it is and destroy the engine...

  11. I have a typhon K&N Induction kit that goes into the wing of my scoob above the driver side wheel and have been advised to take it out and fit a standard Air Intake system. what do you all think about this intake system? shall I keep what I have or switch back to standard?

Has anyone got one for sale or know where I can get one? It's for a 2001 Bugeye.

    Cheers
