About arrobajay

  1. is the type r of equivalent spec to the ra, just in a 2 door version, or is the ra just the spec possible for the 4 door?
  2. from reading LOADS of rants and threads on type-ra, looks like mine is just a wrx as it only revs to 7k. (i say "just" a wrx, and "only" rev's to 7k, lol). it's too dark to check the code at the moment, so i'll do that tomorrow, but it seems that the box has either been changed for a short ratio box, or the 92 to late 93 models all came with short ratio boxes? mine was first registered april 93, so maybe that's a possibility? anybody any wiser? i'm considering changing mine for a newer model shortly, and really fancy a 2-door model. how are these compared to the wrx, and especially compared to a sti type-ra? the 2 door i'd probably go for is the type-r on around a 97-98 plate, as this is probably what my budget allows...
  3. my aerial is on the A pillar, and yes, I have a rear wiper. I'm guessing these are distinguishing factors? Are there any other features I can identify to help?
  4. the badge on the car only says WRX, and I'm pretty sure my mum's wrx ra used to have type ra in small letters under the wrx badge. mine also doesn't have the water i/c spray button, which i thought was on the type ra? J.
  5. hi all, i can see this post has been silent for over a month now, however my question is very much linked... I've got a classic (very classic) 93 wrx, on a K plate. It's aesthetically and mechanically in great condition, however I have a slight puzzlement about the gearbox. From reading what you've all posted, and what info I've seen elsewhere, I shouldn't have such a short ratio gearbox... 'However'... If I'm on the motorway sitting at say 80mph on the clock, it's roaring away at approx 4000rpm... Did they fit a short ratio box to the very early classic's such as mine, or has the box been replaced for a short ratio example? J.
