  1. Oi!!! When did you get a hatch? Good choice sir!

Cold air intake and remap defo the way to go. AEM good, likewise Forge/ Litchfield.

Gives you a subtle BoV sound without the fuelling problems!!! (CAI still needs a remap though)

If you're at the Tayside meet on Thurs you can get a shufty at mine. :icon_salut:

  2. drive an STI is the next point in the plan :) I'm starting to bias towards the WRX, seems like a good compromise between daily use and speed when needed, and upgradeable if i ever get more power hungry. Thanks for all suggestions and responses so far, very helpful.

    :redcard:

You want an STI, sir....No, REALLY!!!!

  3. The car looked awesome enough front the outside!!! That's SCARY fast though!

Anyone else else wanna chip in so Scot doesn't need to stick his gauges down wi' gaffer tape? :icon_joker:

...not that you'd have had time to be looking at 'em anyway!!!! AWESOME :icon_salut:

  4. I purchased a great 57 plate Impreza WRX 3 months ago after enduring an RX8 for 5 years.

You have no idea how comforting it is to get in a car and know that it will start, won't flood, won't lose it's back end in wet weather and will do slightly more than 16 to the gallon!

Before the RX8 I had an RSK B4, twin turbo that I had chipped to 326. That car was fantastic, understated but so damn quick no boy racer knew what I had till I blasted off at the lights to leave them standing in their 1 litre Corsa's with their stupid exhausts amd mega speakers.

I always wanted an Impreza and now I have it's just the best feeling!

    "Enduring"... love it!!!

    Legacies ROCK! :headbang:

  5. thanks it do look good but dont go as good as it looks well yet anyways

got big big plans for that engine and gearbox

want as much power out of the EJ20 as can be got

first job get running right then off to get AUTRONIC ecu on then

pistons out conrods out crank out and start with all forged and cnc

pull turbo off dont know what one to get yet

and all the bits to make it work lol

Blimey! Wouldn't buying another one be quicker? :icon_joker: But good to see yer gonna do things properly!

i will pay my 20 quid to join in next day or 2 seems worth it

    Good man. :icon_salut:

  6. Sti Calipers will fit but you will need to change the wheels and get the discs drilled to suite 100pcd

If you're not upping the power, some decent pads and discs, tyres, brake lines and uprated brake fluid should be more than enough at stock power levels unless you're hitting the track or doing a LOT of heavy fast road braking.

Remember WRX 4pots can lock the front wheels, so they're not short on power... only issues after that are feel (hence braided brake lines and uprated fluid) grip (hence tyres) and fade/ overheating (in which case DO go bigger).

There's always the BLING factor with bigger brakes as well! :icon_joker:

  7. It's only got 17k on the clock and three stamps from Subaru had a few thes things and never let me down so may just go for it still millers 10 60 for this age as well

    Cheers for the help

Unless you have advice to the contrary, I beleive the 2008-on STI (and therefore presumably the WRX as well) uses 5W30 oil. :icon_salut:

And any engine can go pop if you push it hard enough... just a good excuse for a forged rebuild :D

  8. Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend a company for transporting the car from Dundee to Perth? Hopefully next week from Wednesday onwards. Its finally time for the scoob to get its new engine fitted!

Oh and its a non runner and its lowered.

    Thanks,

    Kev

    Woo-hoo! Progress!

Think Ciaran RB5 might have a trailer.... not sure...

  9. IIRC, ram effect with a turbo engine is minimal - clearly cooler air is better for a denser intake charge and a cold feed is always gonna be a good thing (careful with your mapping). Hp gains come from the colder air rather than any pre-turbo compression effect I suspect.

  10. its not the piston rings cause would have no compression surely ...has 150 psi on each cylinder!!!

    No, quite safe then!!!

Which cyl gets the misfire? Might it be related to oil pressure? Pressure drops at idle when warm... had an AVCS solenoid go on mine and it gave a misfire on warm idle. Idle very lumpy and threw a CEL.

Plus, IIRC P1s didn't have AVCS... unless you have different heads running with your syvecs of course... doesn't explain the coil pack voltage issue either... unless I misread your post.
