  1. Cheers guys, much appreciated. Looks like the 5.5k trade offer wasn't that ridiculous after all. Lost a mint on it after 2.5 years of driving the car but need to move to something cheaper to insure and run, Focus ST the most likely candidate, saves me £500 on the insurance for starters.
  2. Hoping somebody will be able to help here. I'm looking to sell my STi but don't see anything similar to get an idea what it's worth. Being offered silly trade in prices (£5.5k) so thinking private sale will be the only option. World Rally Blue, 04 plate Sti Type UK Prodrive PPP MOT till July Full Subaru service history, 72000 miles. Pretty good condition all round 18" Prodrive alloys Prodrive grill kit New suspension all round, new front discs and pads Rough idea would be appreciated!
  3. The extended warranty is not bad Davie, I got it when I bought my blobeye and I got 4 struts and a crankshaft pulley replaced under it. On the subject of struts, my rears are getting done by Nobles next week under parts warranty. My extended ran out last July and I never renewed, the struts were done August 08 and are still covered and are being replaced parts and labour under parts warranty with the uprated ones. I never renewed Subaru Assistance either, the one time I used them (crankshaft pulley), they came out, could fix. Shipped the car to Nobles, got me a hire car that was nothing but hassle to sort out, can do the same with the AA and cover the wifes and sons car as well for not much more.
  4. Cheers for the advice guys. I actually lucked out this time as Nobles are going to replace the knackered shocks under Subaru parts warranty as they were only changed in August 08 and have done under 13k miles on them. Apparently it's different shocks that Subaru are supplying now, here's hoping they last longer than the last set!
  5. Could anyone recommend a decent and not too expensive alternative to the standard Subaru struts? The current rear set have only been on the car for less than 14k miles and 18 months and are banging like mad again. The car's out of warranty now and there is no way I'm putting the standard Subaru struts on if I'm paying for it. Car is an 04 bugeye type UK Sti, sits on Prodrive springs if that makes any difference. No need for anthing to stiff, car is never on a track and it's everyday use type stuff I'm after, not shake your fillings loose material! Many thanks!
  6. The Subaru Assistance worked petty well. Thankful for the warranty too, crankshaft pulley ran to a few hundred quid. Nobles reckoned it was only the 2nd one they had seen fail.
  7. Found issue. Big pulley at front of engine disintegrated and took air con drive belt with it which in turn has taken off the other aux drive belt next to it. Not a massive issue but car needs to be lifted to Nobles. Just an inconvenience I could do without today!
  8. STi had a funny squeak from the engine bay last night but car was running fine so thought nothing of it. This morning, took it out the drive and it's got no power steering and the battery and handbrake lights wont go out. Limped it back to house and waiting on Subaru Assistance coming out now. Luckily still got a month of the extended warrantly left. Any ideas what might be up? Phoned Nobles, they think it's lost a belt or pulley somewhere?
  9. Difference here though Davie is that people don't abuse it unlike somewhere else that I have no involment in anymore! Cheers for the comments though.
  10. It's actually minging, it's got half the insect life of Berwickshire welded to it after the Jim Clark.
  11. It's on the prodrive springs and the standard shocks. Mudflaps were what was on it when I go it, they are also on the list to get replaced as one is squint and I cant straighten it!
  12. Went for a run up Arthurs Seat tonight with the intention of photographing the sunset and ended up rattling off a few of the Scoob as well. First I've really taken since putting the Prodrive grill on and it was still reasonably clean after the Jim Clark if you overlook the flies welded to it. Light was great for pics tonight, recommended location if your going to photograph the car! And a long shot of the location... More on Flickr Current plans for it. Alloys re-powder coated after I kerbed one really bad, back window tints, possibly a splitter if it'll clear the drive with one on and then the whole thing detailed to take the little paint imprefections out!
  13. Few more from the Jim Clark, doubt I'll ever get around to processing the rest to be honest. Nice day out and nice to finally put some faces to names from here!
  14. Road closes at 10.30, first Historic at 11.05, first National at 11.45, certainly wouldn't go any earlier than 9.15. Only 45 minute drive, and should get parked right at the stage. Always have here in the past.
  15. Yes, its Bob alright Davie. Not sure if he's going or not, he's down there today and is letting me know later.
