Can anyone please tell me where to locate the trouble code connectors under the dash?

I know that the black ones need to be plugged together to read the trouble codes, but what are the green connectors for?

Hello,

I keep getting a communication error when trying to read fault codes on my W Reg Turbo 2000 Impreza.

I plugged in 2 separate OBD2 diagnostic devices to see if I could read any codes that may be stored, however I keep getting a Connection Error between the Code Reader(s) and the ECU.

I know these devices work fine as I regularly use them on other vehicles.

Someone told me that OBD2 readers cant be used on Classic Imprezas - if this is the case, then why do they have the ports?

Secondly, I have see that you can read trouble codes manually by connecting the plugs under the steering colums....is this the only way to read codes on the classic Impreza turbo 2000?
