  2. Not really. Went off again around 0100 this morning. So i had to sleep with one eye and ear open for it going off again. Followed yer advice and all was quiet... I was sitting waiting for he garage to open at 0645 with the key. Mind they didn't come and get it until 1200 midday.... Battery half goosed and there was a drain from the stereo. All now resolved... Kinda makes me think the Alarm ECU was ok two weeks ago and it was a crap battery and electrical drain all the time...!!!!! Ah well. all fine now. been an expensive two weeks.. Cheers again..
  3. Ahh - magic - someone knows something about these dam alarms. i will be at the garage first thing with the keys demanding a fix for my night shift tha morra. When i got in earlier, i tried your advice and punched the code in, jumped out and locked with key.. !!! Fingers crossed for a quiet night... Why the hell is it doing it... I'm sure the garage will give some explanation... It might be up for grabs soon... Not coz of the alarm i have to say... Just due to the mileage i'm doing.. Cheers again for yer help. Si
  4. So two weeks ago one midnight the alarm starts screaming. Used the key fob, not joy, still screaming. Eventually found it needed a code to turn off alarm.. Then tried starting. No joy alarm kicked in, more screaming. Managed after an hour to shut the thing up after waking the neighbours. Following day local Scooby dealer in Penicuik took it away. Faulty Alarm ECU - couple of hundred later and a battery recharge all is ok.. Not !!! Haven't used the car since yesterday afternoon, nothing strange about that. Went out tonight to find it's just started screaming again, key fobs don't work it. Car won't start. Put in keypad no and it all went quiet.. Fingers crossed that all is quiet tonight... Like a child or new pet, it looks like the car doesn't like not being used for a day. I will be at the Scooby garage first thing asking what the hells gone wrong with it now.. All that money for the ECU and - sorry i am well cheesed off and need a rant. Anyone else with similar tales or have advice re alarm...? Coz undoing the battery didn't work before and won't work again.
  5. Defo - i have it booked in for tomorrow.. Cheers for all the advice - comments.. Si
  6. As soon as i got home lastnight i took the wheels off and tightened the struts - top and bottom and nothing was loose, all was fine.. Although i did look at the original drop links and the rubbers or bushes look like they maybe have had it, but still it wasn't knocking before.. So what are drop links gonna cost.. Is it something i could doo myself.? I am not looking for all singing all damcing track day stuff, just something to take the knock away. Simboy
  7. Afternoon all, please help - i had new alexi springs fitted to my WRX Wagon... 2003 MY.. Got them done yesterday... No knocking from front when i dropped the car off, when i collected it, any slight pot hole or bump inthe road, especially the speed bumps outside my house sends the car into clonking heaven... It's the front only... Any suggestions. Drop links - ARB Bushes.? Please help.. Ta Muchly (it does look nicer lower though) Simboy
  8. Thanks Again Folks - time to fill it up and keep the thottle pressed a little harder. Clearly Scoobie's weren't meant to be driven so sensibly.. Si
  9. You've hit it on the head.. I've read about the ECU learning your driving style... This last week or so i've been pottering about and been getting good fuel figures... So the answer is maybe give it a wee ragging and it'll hopefully go back to normal.. I read about the ECU issue in the Essential Buyers Guide... It's an intuitive ECU... Clever bods those Subaru Lads 'n' Lasses Also, someone mentioned ANDY F - i don't mean to be rude, who is he and where is he based.. I take it he's a Subaru specialist. Si
  10. Afternoon all, i've had my 03 plate WRX (76K) for about 6 weeks now - was going great and sounding great until yesterday... The turbo's whooshing and whistling as normal but the oomph seems to have gone - alittle, it's still nippy but not as nippy as it was and the roar from the back back isn't as loud as it was... Does that mean it's not boosting properly or am i looking at CAT problems...? I'm at a loss... It does still go OK but just not as it was... Or is it we've gone from cold weather to hot and scoobies don't like warm weather.? Cheers Si
  11. Ahhh - it's good to be back. Always promised masel another Scooby with a Turbo... So i've got meself a WRX Wagon 03 New Age.. Nice car... Had a 04 Forester XLn for a while... Nice, did what it said on the tin and then some... But the Classic Turbo wagon was my fave... 99MY.... Hopefully keep this one for a while... Apart from having to get a new (very expensive) Remote Key from a local Scooby dealer, and some Mobile 1 through it veins it's not been too pricey... Now on the look out for springs and a nice set of wheels for it. Cheers Simboy73
