  1. Hey All

Just a quickie and yes it will sound stupid :iamstupid:

    Whats the difference between MAFs:

    22680 AA280 A36 616 R80 and

    22680 AA280 A36 613 R80 ???

haha and please dont say 3 lol

    does the 616 / 613 make a difference?

I have a intermittant issue but cant point out where

Had scan done and MAF etc reading are fine apparently but car fluctuates almost dying at idle SOMETIMES and even trudging a long loses power and kicks back in....

Im thinking change the MAF just to make sure its not that

    Thanks

  2. Thanks, all seems ok in that department, on way back to work had the worst of it yesterday

car stalls when coming to a halt

reving is so non responsive delayed

made it home spluttering but this morning fires up and trip into work was steady.....

Anyone know a specialist or disgnostic around the Berkshire area ?

  3. Hi all

Hope all are getting ready for the festive period.

    Help needed please..

My Impreza uk turbo 2000 seems to intermittantly start playing up.

Idle fluctuates almost dying when stationary this can last a few minutes and then settles, I have a video but not sure if i can post.

Sometimes i can be doing the speed limit and car just hesitates and losses power as if its missing a breathe

Have taken it to my mechanic who checked visually (as his scanner was nicked) the MAF, Fuel pump and couldnt find anything wrong.

Took it down to Suabru for a 30min scan and they said maf was fine nice curve etc

sods law car was lumpy struggling all the way there but then sits on their site burbling away nicely.

This doesnt happen all the time (yet) it can be a couple of days all good and then a day of crap.

    Not sure where to start

    Thanks

  4. Hi all

    Hope all is well

I know its Summer coming up however I have an issue with my heaters :( if i put it on and have it on Warm/hot (red bar side) them the windscreen seems to seems to mist up I have to sit there for over 15 minutes for it to even clear a little

If i have the heater on cold then nowt is the issue.

It seems as something is being ejected from hot air....any ideas?

i wiped the screen and theres a minute amount of gunky particles so im totally lost..... :brickwall:

:occasion14: cool, hope thats the end to that issue

  6. Some valid point of discussion have to agree with most in saying the benefits dont seem to be out weighing the cost.

Been a member for 3/4 years now and have seen some changes in the club and in myself and have come to the conclusion continuing membership is not for me.

Mainly realised the forums are not as lively for me as they used to be.

Meets and events seemed so easy and popular when i first joined however not so IMO now.

Garage benefits / discount which i thought was due to SIDC was infact the same whether i was a member or not .

Taking nothing away the members and non members generally are just as friendly and helpful as before and thats appreciated.

Let the good times come back and continue :occasion14::icon_salut:

  7. Sounds very similar to what i had, and while i was getting mine sorted there was a fella in a legacy with exact same issue. yeah i put up with it for a while until the puddle smoked quite badly and over time sat on the undertray.

Im not that hands on, so didnt even think about attempting doing it myself. Mine was done by a SIDC friendly garage hughbury motors.

Rocker cover gasket and there are 4 washers which need changing too, its prob an easy job but pain to get down there to do it. get it checked and quoted for, i think the labour is what u need to check as parts aint to bad.

  8. im getting a stronge smell of something burning from under bonnet on mi 2001 bugeye,107thou on clock now,ive took the under tray off yesturday and part of cambelt cover nr the airfiter box, when i shone mi search light down nr the front of the exhaust heat sheild

there was something sizzlig on the heat sheild just below the front plug, but i carnt get to it,ive tryed useing autoglym engine cleaner

then powerwashed it,it cleared most of it off,but after a 20min drive we could smell it again, ive just changed the radiator on the scooby ,and ive kept my eye on the water level, dont seam to be loseing any water,it looked like black tar bubbling on the heat sheild,

any help or advice would be grateful ,before i take it to a garage, cheers,

do you get any smoke from the scoop even a little?

had similar saw liquid down side of engine but cudnt tell what it was. eventually got smoke out the scoop and realised it was Rocker cover gasket.

If rocker hasnt been changed the seals can go hard and dripp oil onto the shield / exhaust pipes and sizzle, smoke. Worth a check, shouldnt be pricy to change either

  9. I think its worth keeping. Any scrapes will be plastic rather then catching any wires, hoses, the sump etc... Also keeps muck and salt out from the road surface.

Mine actually came off at about 80mph and got ran over. I recovered it, reenforced the broken bits with thin ali sheet and made a new way of attaching it with four stainless m8 bolts rather then the gash standard fittings. Works great now and far more sturdy.

Awesome Thanks hopefully weather permitting and if i can get it up il try somet of the same

    appreciated

  10. Calling all London Scoobies !!!!

Lets liven this place up, a show of hands please is anyone out there??? ok its wrong time of year, cold, snowing, icy but hell with that !!!! :tumbleweed::tumbleweed::tumbleweed:

Okie Dokie yes im from Berkshire but work in the City and notice plenty of scrummy numbers and nice subaru's :redcard:

  11. Hi fella

Worth a try looking at the codes to see if any fault has been detected if the engine warning light has come on. Also 1 port of call would be spark plugs and leads and MAF sensor.

My 98 had cutting out and rev issues not long ago and touch wood since changing the MAF tghings better.

Please note the MAF on mine was Subaru part only £391 :( if yours is facelift u may have a different MAF around £100 so do necessary code checks prior.

  12. Silly one here but have to ask........................

The under Tray on the classic is it worth removing this all together?

Mine has done a good job however two end parts are lop sided at the back end and curve down almost touching the road. Only noticed over the weekend. Now i can hear it on the road even at the slightest mound on the tarmac..

    :boldblue:

  13. Three options:

    1. Subaru dealer. About £90 if its the same as the 99-00 version.

    2. Second hand from ebay, breakers, forums or scrapy. I personally wouldnt be happy with a used one as they have a limited lifespan and are easily damaged.

    3. Aftermarket retailers. However they all sell the original Subaru OE item and are usually the same or more expensive then the dealer.

    SGT TAPLOW quotes £291 :icon_hang::censored:

OK mine is the above code with purplish label, does the code have to be exactly the same or is it just the 22680 AA280 that is important?

    F

    22680 AA280 (A36-613-R80)
