  1. its a tough market out there just now, and the prices of classics has plummeted due to insurance and fuel costs etc, depends how serious you are about selling it, i know how much i sold it for a few years back and prices have dropped a lot since then, i think if you want to sell it realistically you would have to drop the price to more like £3750, but then if its worth more to you then just keep it as you said . i know how hard it is to sell these now, i bought an immaculate mica red classic from a member on here a year and a half ago, was on 54k, standard, a my00, and i paid more than u are asking. i then did what i probably shouldnt have and modded the engine, hybrid td04, sti top mount, full decat andy forrest remap etc etc was running 305bhp, then when it came to selling it lost a fortune, sold it for 3700, worst thing was it was back up for sale 5 months later as the boy got made redundent and i was watching it on pistonheads as i was toying with buying it back because it was that good, and he dropped the price to £2700 eventually, i was gutted i didnt have the money to buy it back. somebody got an absolute bargain!!!!! anyway good luck with sale, cheers.

  2. chris, i got your pm and have replied. this was my first scoob, i still remember the day i went to view it and left my deposit for it. i absolutely loved that car, such great memories, which included picking up my wife and baby son after he was born and taking him home for the first time. the car never let me down once, it had great mods on it when i bought it, the full scoobysport system, the ledas, the hi spec brakes, and when i had andy map her with the ecutek i couldnt take the smile off my face. i still remember her driving away when i sold her, couldnt believe how great she sounded, i was gutted, but unfortunately my circumstances at the time dictated i had to sell her. iv had 2 classics since then, an sti and another uk turbo, but always remember the old mica blue one fondly. my son who is now 4 is subaru daft, he would love it if i brought the old girl home, i know how hard a decision it must be for you, low mileage mint classics are indeed a rare thing these days. pm me mate. cheers, jamie.

  3. im hoping i wont have to sell it tbh, hopefully things will improve over the next couple of months after xmas, i might take it off the road at the end of november as the insurance runs out then and save myself some cash then get it back on the road end of february . said i was going to keep this one as its that good and the wife doesnt want me to sell it either. already had plans for whiteline arbs front and rear and droplinks and a nice set of refurb's prodrive 17" st-2 alloys in silver and it would be perfect.

  4. Thats a pretty poor response, where else do you have it advertised mate ?

I'm guessing it depends on how many people are looking for a classic at the moment, with so many classics around that have been chav'd up or driven too hard and been unloved its a strange that its still about. I had thought about selling up last week as mine just doesnt get driven enough, I even had the advert all written up but didnt have heart to post it and funnily enough my mrs said no since I had looked so long and hard to find a good one. Well if you do end up selling and want to come back into the fold then your old one is looking pretty in my cosy garage.... lol.

would love my old one back, first love and all that lol. its on pistonheads and on here and local gumtree, just dropped the price by a couple of hundred as well to see if it stirs up any more interest. feel like im giving it away now.

  5. Think its a slow market regardless of what type of car you have to sell at the mo, saying that though I'm amazed it hasnt been snapped up for that price. I know from experience of buying your old one, a finding a nice clean example is like looking for hens teeth. Maybe worth starting a new thread for it in the FS section, maybe not get much interest cause its showing under the previous owners username ??

not sure why iv had such little interest, had two calls in about 5 weeks!! maybe longer!

  6. lol. well i had a rather lengthy email from another tyre kicker, asked loads of questions which i responded to, he then phones me a few days later and we chat about the car, i answer all his questions, he says he will come down this weekend to see it ,he is from aberdeen. guess what. never heard from him again. that was last weekend. so why email me and then phone me when u have no intention of buying it?? really annoys me, some people have nothing better to do.

  7. Aaaaah, the joys of private selling - always a magnet for total windae lickers.

I had one guy phone me up the day after buying my car to ask me:

"OK mate - what's the score with the engine overheating? Eh?! "

I was quite surprised at this because it had never overheated in all the time I'd owned it.

"What's the reading on the temperature gauge?", I asked.

"Well it's aboot haufway... but it's no' that - I popped the bonnet, put my hand on the block and it was RED HOT mate!".

Did you make it clear in your advert that you weren't accepting offers?

didnt put ono in the add, just the price. i presumed with him flying up etc he wasnt going to haggle, his loss. really pissed me off though!!!

  8. im thinking he was a bit mental actually. i opened the bonnet and all he did was look at it, didnt even check the oil filler cap. why didnt he talk money with me before he booked his flight!!!! i would of told him not to bother. just dont get it. wasnt a very chatty bloke either, didnt have much to say at all. good riddence!!

  9. right, i am in the process of selling my immaculate low mileage mica red impreza turbo, and i took a call from a guy from kent during the week, lots of questions etc usual stuff, then calls me next day and says he is flying up sunday morning can i pick him up from the airport, fine no problem. so i get up this morning, pick him up, come home, leave him to look round the car for ages, make him tea, he finally asks how flexible i am on the price, first time he mentioned it so i said im not. so he offers 250 less than im asking, i say no. he wanders around the car again for ages and says nothing, so i say look ill knock 50 off and thats it, iv just taxed it and motd it. he says no, and where can he get a cab!!!!!!!!! so i phone him one and off he goes. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant stress how mint the car is, and he doesnt buy it for the sake of 200 and pays a fortune for a taxi and another flight home!!! speechless.

  10. :brickwall: ust back, wow!!!! what a difference! first thing andy commented on was that it was still on the origina maf sensor, car has done 54k, once the software was downloaded and car was idling andy was checking all reading and the maf wasnt performing as it should, it wasnt totally shot, but andy had concerns, but we would find out once the car was under load, once on the open road andys concerns were confirmed and we didnt drive the car hard until we popped along to penicuik and alex f nobles where i had to buy a new maf (£105!!!) andy fitted it and checked it before we set off again, now perfect, so off we went............. few runs on the bypass on the A1 runs from 3k to 5500k in 4th etc and andy was finally happy that she was mapped perfectly, so now the crunch time, time for a few runs to see what figures she was putting out, i already knew judging just how hard and fast she was pulling with the extra whooooooooooosh from the hybrid td04 which by the way was spooling as quick as ever just sooooooo much harder, that the figures should be good, and they were,

bhp - 305bhp, torque - 311 lbf :-) i am one very happy customer, andy commented on how well she drove and also what a lovely example she is, cant thank or recommend andy highly enough. im away for a drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
