  1. with all of the above. Brilliantly done. Not so much the hairs on the back of my neck standing up but all over.
  2. Great job folks Watching the BBC news brought more than a wee tear to my eye.
  3. Sorry for not being to give you an answer but at least it's petrol in a petrol tank! I had an off day when I was filling up the works car (police) and put petrol into the diesel! Realised when I had put about a fivers worth in.....so.....just filled up the rest of the tank and assured myself it would be ok!! Thankfully it mixed ok!!!!
  4. Hello there, I've got a MY05 WRX wagon and so far I've had the Eibach springs fitted. That dropped the car by about 25mm and I'm really happy with them. A lot of folk will give you other makes etc. Can't speak for the Prodrive though. Or wheels for that matter.....I'm sticking with my 17's. As far as droplinks and arbs go, don't think many people would say anything else but Whiteline which will do the lot. A mixture of good prices and performance. For prices you can contact a fellow forum member, Cusco Kid, for prices or AWD Motorsport. I'm in Ayrshire so someone else will be able to advise on a place to fit up north. Have fun!
  5. Excellent figures and lots of fun to be had! I've got a WRX PPP...only 2.0 though. Does the extra .5l and the VF34 make that much of a difference? Don't know much about the turbos with regards to the difference between that and my standard one? Can I ask how much the VF34 cost you? So far I've had my Eibach springs, anti lift kit and I'm about to get Whiteline arbs/droplinks. Got the Meercat sports cat downpipe that you've got and a Meercat centre section. Was saving up to get the up pipe and re-map at the same time. Andy F had told me I'd maybe only see 20bhp more so maybe............. VF34.........
  6. What quotes were you getting? If you do a search for insurance on the forum, you'll see there are a good few insurance companies that you might not have tried.
  7. You should try working in Helensburgh! You do wonder why people think they'll report certain things to us! I am an AFO but keep my rants to myself!!!
  8. Stewart, Great answer. Cheers. Looks like I'll leave the up pipe for now then. I'm not really mechanically minded so didn't know how restrictive certain parts are etc. I was just thinking....mmm, only £xxx ....I could afford that!! Looks like I'll get my arb's/droplinks first while I do more overtime and get the up pipe/re-map in quick succession!!! I guess I was indeed getting hung up on the power gains rather than all round driveability. I don't know figures I expected to get from Andy. As far as lean fuelling goes, I've had the fuel pump uprated so should be ok there. Thanks for all the answers guys and gals.
  9. How did they try? I'm always telling folk about the fishing rod through the letter box trick and to have the keys away from the door. If you have one, keep the house alarm on at night. It's those little things that only take a minute to do that you sometimes can't be bothered with that might make the difference. My car always goes straight in the garage (lucky to have one) with a steering lock, Tracker, garage locked and a Garage Defender that they would have to pull concrete up to get rid of. Hopefully I'd hear that!!!!!
  10. Not good. When you say the police aren't interested, do you know if they've been told? We get that a lot, 'What you doing about etc etc'. When we say we didn't know and ask if they had phoned in, they would be like, 'Well, don't like to grass' etc At the start of each shift, things like stolen cars are read out to the shift so I'm sure they would be interested....especially the traffic. We also have an intelligence database that action plans for such things can be based upon. They obviously need caught!
  11. Cheers Peter, that's obviously what I meant! Could you not tell! Also, as Cal said, it wasn't the flexi one! With regards to what I want....I'm 'pretty sure' I won't be getting an uprated turbo or headers done etc as my wife would know about this and it would be a lot of money that I couldn't get away with spending. Andy F had mentioned a turbo upgrade but it's not a financial option. I'm looking to spend a wee bit here and there....ie £140 for the centre section...£90 for the uppipe etc. As far as the exhaust goes, I had thought....centre section then uppipe and that would be that. Keep the sports cat on. So, would having that done, and only that, warrant a re-map/cause potential damage? I can't plan ahead due to cash etc so if in a years time I did fancy more, I'd have to worry about that at the time. Good answers as always. Cheers folks.
  12. Mmm, should I leave it with the downpipe for now then or could I at least get the centre section done as well?? I've had the Walbro uprated fuel pump put in already. I guess I was just wanting to get as much out of the car as I could for the least money! I thought, "£140 for a centre section....why not!". The cost of the re-map is obviously a different matter rather than £140 here and then £90 for the up pipe later. Mind you, I guess it could be more expensive if things go wrong...............and then I'd have to explain to my wife!!!! I'd planned to spend the potential re-map money on front/rear arb's and droplinks first because again I could get them over a couple of months before getting it all fitted at once. decisions, decisions I always tell myself...."It's the fastest car you've ever driven....YOU DON'T NEED IT TO BE ANY FASTER!!!!".............but I never listen!!
  13. I'm a Dumfries boy and know nothing of these animal claims!!! I live in Ayrshire so go down the coast road these days. It's shorter and a nice drive Not so many nutters either. Know what you mean about the motorway. I'll sit about 80 most of the way and you get folk flying past in their old cars that you know must be going flat out and they have to brake for the long sweeping bends because their car can't handle it. Madness As for D&G cops. Never had any dealings but a colleauge of mine....Strathclydes finest! was heading down that way and was stopped by traffic who said he was doing 97mph. My mate swears he had cruise control at 84mph. When the traffic asked him his occupation and he said he was a cop, there was a bit of a chortle......and a bigger one when he told him he was Strathclyde. Nice and professional. My mate is adamant there was another blue car that blasted by him a bit before he was caught up with and stopped but maybe he's not being honest..............
  14. Hi folks, Thought I'd throw this out to the forum before I do something daft! Basically, my car started with the PPP exhaust and so far I've been to Meercat and had the Snakehead downpipe with a sports cat. I'm planning to go back to get their straight through centre section and was talking to Wullie about their up pipe. He described it as being more rally without using flex? Two parts that fit together loosely but expand in the heat and make a tight fit? Probably the worst description in the world!!! So, I wondered if I could safely do this without needing a re-map? Will I cause overheating? Am I ok because I've kept the sports cat? From reading old posts, I kind of got the impression that I would definitely need a re-map if it was a fully decatted system? I was hoping to get a re-map through the group buy but £460 is quite a lot to think about and I e-mailed Andy who said I'd only see a gain of about 20bhp, but if I was going to do any damage with the exhaust changes I'd either get the re-map or not do the changes. Cheers
  15. I was lucky that the previous owner had the Tracker Monitor on the car so I only had to pay the subscription. Depending on who you insure with, you don't 'NEED' to have it fitted. I'm insured with Keith Michaels and it didn't make much difference on the premium. Didn't have to have it enabled either. It's all about peace of mind I guess. Still got the CAT 1 alarm/immobiliser.....in the garage.....with a steering lock on.......with Tracker.....with a Garage Defender blocking the locked garage door!
  16. Don't think they do the geometry but I'm sure Greers would be able to recommend somewhere good. Greersport - 01505 683 388 (in Glengarnock)
  17. Hello and welcome. Tell us more about the car. Did you get the PPP put on it? Need the Scooby burble!!!
  18. Hello and welcome. Wagons rule!!!
  19. Was it you in Dumbarton on Friday (couldn't post before now!). I was in my MY05 Crystal Grey wagon. You're car was blue and you flashed and waved near to Castlegreen St. I was heading into Dumbarton, you were leaving. Also, a bit further up the road, I came up behind a black MY55 with some nice mudflaps with WRX on them. You turned off as you leave Dumbarton for Cardross. Sure I saw a SIDC sticker in the rear window. Had a few waves recently!
  20. For the cost of membership, I've saved that already after getting work done at Greers/servicing at S&S etc.
  21. Woohoo!!!! It's great to be back. Great job by all involved.
  22. I thought you were going to say it was like a Friday/Saturday night down at the local chippie officer! I know it can get like that here, in sunny Castlemilk! LOL. Well, you're not far off! Maybe not as much in my beat in Helensburgh but it can be when the marines decide to 'enjoy' themselves......and there's only 4 of you on shift.....or maybe just 2!
