  1. Id be ight in thinking its really just a decent cutting compound and a machine to fix swirls?

No mate, not quite as simple as that. A cutting compound will get rid of swirl marks, but by its very nature(i.e cutting) will leave marks of its own, which really need to be removed with a finishing compound such as menzerna final finish or meguiars speed glaze( i forget the number). Also depends whether you use a rotary machine or a dual action. You have to be very careful using a rotary or you can get ' strikethrough' which is not good as it means youve not only got rid of the swirl marks/scratches, but the paint as well. could be an expensive mistake ( talking from past experience).

    cheers

  2. Correct mate, dodo juice is only a wax and wont as such remove swirl marks. basically the car needs paint correction(detailing) which involves using(preffereably) a dual action( random orbital) polisher and a good quality product, which can vary dependant upon the condition of the car. once thats done it should really be sealed to protect the finish and then a wax applied to enhance the finish.

    Cheers for the comments guys.

If you want to get a machine, i would suggest getting a meguiars G220, plus couple of megs pads( if you shop around you can deals with pads included), if you need any advice/help to get started then p.m me anytime an ill help you out mate

  4. Driving a Scooby offers a raft of wonderful audible experiences: the sound of that awesome flat four; the famed Scooby burble, and lets not forget some other choice sounds like BOVs and induction sounds. However, one of my favourites is when one hits 2k revs and the whine of a spooling turbo kicks in and gets higher and higher in pitch as the car gets faster and faster... a bit like a mini-jet enjine. However, what I can't fathom is that some days I hear it very clearly, yet other days its not quite so audible. Is it jsut me or is there an explanation for this?

  5. 'I am about to attack the car with a sponge '

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

As C WRX says try to get a wash mitt, preferrably a lambswool one( dear, but worth it) or a microfibre one, and use the two bucket method if you dont have a grit guard.

2 bucket method: 1 bucket with shampoo soloution, 1 with clean water. wash a panel then rinse mitt in clean water, giving it a rub to remove debris, then on to next panel etc etc.

Hope this helps too mate .

  7. Cant help with the first part of your problem mate, but i had a similair noise coming from mine a while back, turned out to be the track rod end. Something for you to check, see if the rubber bush is knackered. (relatively cheap and easy to fix).

Hope you get yer probs sorted .

    cheers

  8. Aye, dont think thats a bodykit as such mate, just looks like stock parts colour coded and a splitter added as the side skirts and rear bumper bits look like what ive got on mine also.

I got a P1 replica spoiler from fleabay about a year ago for £80. Shouldve been more but i was the highest bidder so what the hell... :getmecoat:

  9. I've used www.potn.com in the past for inovite alloys, I think they were about the cheapest at the time.

    Worth a wee look mate

    Rich

Got my inovits from them too.

Also if your looking for tyres try R-Tec, as they often have great prices for Parada spec II's etc.

  10. I had the pleasure of seeing this car close up last sunday and i have to say its one HELLUVA car :rotfl:

Maybe it wont be to everybodys taste, but then if we all liked the same thing then wed be driving around in identical cars!!! Its the individuality of each scoob and its owner that keeps it interesting around here. no need to be petty tho imho.

    Cheers
