  1. Hi

To be honest, I dont think I'd go back. :(

I ended up not being happy with the spray and went to North East Autobody to get it done again. I dont think the prep was that great, so the finish wasnt as good as it could have been. Also, the guys attitude didnt help when I went back to complain.

    Cheers

  2. I'm running a VF35 in mine, pink injectors, sti TMIC, Prodrive downpipe, remapped and getting 309bhp with that. Would always like a bit more but the thought of causing damage to the gearbox etc made me stop at that. There's also the slight issue with being able to stop  Godspeed discs and bluestuff pads helped out there. The car runs very well and and I would say its just right for everyday use and I get reasonable economy (high 20's) on sensible drives.

I'd be thinking of a different engine / gearbox option to go any higher, so thats into new teritory. It will probably then become a weekend toy.

    Hope that helps.

  3. Hey Ryan

Here's some photos of the front splitter and the spats (also showing how cut and enlarged holes to go over the rear bumper fixings).

I used 3 self tapping screws and a thin bed of mastic - just to make sure they stayed on.

    Hope this helps.

  4. My thanks too for all the organising :iagree: .

Had a blast this weekend and only one engine management fault.

A few things to sort out before next year - number one being the rear shocks :boldblue: and maybe getting the rear arches rolled out a wee bit too. My Goodyears started out as 225's but I suspect there down to 215's with all the shaving they got on the last single track stage

    Take care all.

I've a 2001 bugeye wagon and have just fitted the front splitter from HT Autos and also their blobeye rear spats (like those shown in their picture below)-

    81871309.jpg

The rear bumper is different for the bugeye wagaon vs. saloon, but I chose the blobeye spats as they have a very similar profile to the front splitter I fitted.

I'm away this weekend but can post some photos on Sunday / Monday if you'd like to see them fitted. They do stick out by about 2 -3 inches, but only past the lower part of the bumper (you can see the wagon bumper below has a section about 12 long at the lowest point. The spat sticks out 2-3 inches beyond that, but no where near as far as the rear of the bumper (if you get what I mean). I quite like it - its....different.

This is the wagon rear -

  6. Phoned Bitz this morning and they said to pop along with the car for a look.

Looks like it might not be the MAF sensor, but I need to check out my air filter set up first. They suggested putting the original kit back on and then seeing if the problem stayed.

Something to do when I get home next week.

I'd definately go back - they were very friendly and the guy sounded like he knew his stuff. They also fitted me in to an already busy day.

    Cheers all

  7. Help!

I'm on hols in Aviemore this week and I think my MAF sensor is playing up. This is the second one I've fitted in the past month and either I've bought two duff 2nd hand sensors in a row, or its not a MAF sensor problem.

Just wondering if there is anywhere in the area (or Inverness) that may have a new sensor in stock, or possibly a garage that I could go to to double check if it is the MAF sensor thats playing up. I'm regretting not buying a new sensor each time, but surely I'm not that unlucky:brickwall:

    Any help, much appreciated.

  8. Yip, make that 3 for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrics.

I just got these fitted and they are fantastic in the wet. Not been dry enough to really test them in the dry, but I suspect they'll be good there too. I got mine fitted by Tyre Devotion from Alford (not sure where you are) and they were almost the same price as Blackcircles.com - the advantage is that TD come to you to fit them and the young guy was very careful when he did them. £564 fitted. 225/40R18 92Y.

I seem to be collecting various lock nut keys. Whereabouts are you and can you put up a picture on here of the nut. If I've got the key I'll post it off to you to try.

  10. Sat nav stuck on the window?

Wiper blades not stopping at the bottom of the screen?

    Ahhhh.... splitter :brickwall: very nice!

Now the snow has gone :getmecoat: I'm thinking of getting mine painted up and put on. Just in time to loose it on the Highland Fling, no doubt.

  11. Blair/CJE - what you thinking for a convoy up from the deen? I would rather leave friday night than early saturday morning to save doing 300+ odd miles in a day!

Only reason I haven't booked the hotel is I was waiting to see if the O/H is coming but she is away on a hen party that weekend so its just me!

yes, that sounds like a plan. Stonyfield Travelodge booked as well. :icon_salut:

  12. My tuppence worth....

Got my renewal through a few weeks back from Performance Direct, went from £550 to £770 for no apparent reason.

Stats - 40yrs old, >10yr NC, no convictions or accidents, standard alarm, sat on driveway, <£10k miles, declared all mods (car running 309bhp).

Read the threads above and tried -

    • Post office - refusal
    • Admiral - refusal
    • Aviva - refusal
    • Adrian Flux £730
    • KM - emailed and phoned Gary, but no reply. :brickwall:

Upshot - renewed with original renewal at PD. :icon_hang:

Seemed to be anything over 4 mods and they got twitchy.

    Lesson learnt - I need a garage.

    Cheers

  13. Wallace Performance have MOT equipment in their new premisis, not sure if its ready to use yet though.

    AW Autotech are good too

Both not ideal location wise for you though (city centre)

Cheers. I did ask WP but they said that they'd put the car out to someone else to do the MOT. I guessed things have changed.

    Thanks for the note though.

    Corrie

  14. Yeah, as above for me.

Have a look on the group buy section on Scoobynet for the BC's and contact Bren at Apex Performance. It might say the group buy has officially finished but he's been known to take an order at the group buy price after that date.

    Ride height suits me :)

    Very nice.

    Thanks all for the help.
