Well, Fab-1 got an opportunity to test drive her new Forester 2.5 XTE-N turbo today as the outlaws came up from Hamilton to look after the rugrat for a few hours, so - off to John R Weirs to see Russ AKA "Mako" the main man without interruption. The wee one Hollie yesterday grabbed a set of keys from Russ's desk and started wandering around the showroom with aboot £150,000 worth of new motors in it. Fab-1 chasing her - me with me heart in me mooth - in case she keyed one of 'em. Shes only 2½ years so ... Just one little note here - Fab-1 (Jen me missus) hates car salesmen with a Capital H. Russ is different completely. A rather charming bloke who is the complete opposite from the 99.99% of car salespersons out there who are just plain obtrusive dumplin's and well - complete ****heads really. Russ is in a Different Class. Sound knowledge of everything to do with Scoobs - I MEAN, what a knowledge and passion for the job he does and a complete credit to his employer, but over all - just a F****** great bloke. Probably spent well over an hour just chatting aboot scoobs and providing quite right quality coffee whilst chatting. BUT, Jen's itching for a shot. So it's fuel up (part of the service) ! And off up the A9 towards Pitlochry went Jen, me and Russ. Jen doesn't push cars but did comment on the above than normal power on the go pedal. Russ steps in at the Luncarty junction and tells Jen to turn off for his favourite demonstration road and tells her to floor it through a blind 'S' bend without lifting off. She did as it's a wee bit scary 'cos its blind, so she just did her usual, comfortable speed limit. Did a round trip back to the same junction where I stopped Jen and asked Russ to "demonstrate" the forester over the same road ! Big f****** mistake by me ! Russ driving - me in the Pax seat Jen in the back with her eyes closed (just as fng well) So Russ floors it into the 'S' bend.... very interesting (and blindly frightening towards the mild) And then flat out towards a 90 degree right hander... ... getting faster.... getting closer .....getting even faster getting even closer ...........getting even faster and getting even more close..... I s****s meself and screams "Russ - thats enough !!!!!!! " What a woos eh! Salesman and machine in perfect harmony ! He knows the motor inside out and deliberatelely terrorizies the occupants to accept the sale ! Total con. Jen canny wait to get her Scoob come Friday. In many ways the Forester is better than me WRX and Russ agreed. It's Mental with a capital "M" Thankyou Russ (Mako on site) and Gus le Bus for everything ! Keep safe folks... Jen is a happy chappess now and I have had me bowels cleaned for a bit - Thanks Russ.

Some of you guys may remember that we moved from Airdrie to N.W. Perth about 6months ago. Well here we are settling in. Fab-1 (the missus) has been hampered by the poor road holding performance from her front wheel drive Hyundai coupe (of the ScoobyIain detailing fame a while back) in these more than snowier conditions and wanted something more suitable for this more Northerly terrain and the hazards of bad road conditions in general. Being more than a sheep farming community and the amount of scoobies (mostly non turbo'd but in every shape and form from Justy's to Tribeca's0 is astonishing. I reckon than 1 in 25 cars you see is a scoob from one end of the spectrum to the other. So, bearing in mind (and me WRX requiring a service soon) checked out where AWD in Perth was and asked at a few dealers where the nearest Scooby outlet was - this was yesterday evening 18/01/08 BTW - and was pointed to the Inveralmond Ind. estate for a scooby retailer. So in went me and Fab-1 goes in to meet the salesman for a trade in. We got chatting about the new shape WRX and the legacy, forester,Justy, tribeca and scobs in general etc which was nice as this bloke knew his stuff. I said we were looking for a forester turbo and he had a branny sitting there with a huge price tag on it. No chance - too expensive. Next thing, he says , I've got a forester turbo on an 05/05 coming in tomorrow - Hmmm says me and Fab-1 - price ? £**,*** The usual inflated nonsense ! We talked aboot the features etc. Model being EXT-N with all the goodies and more - low mileage with warranties and stuff and then he made an astonishing remark. Mind - my last posting and actual viewing of the SIDC site was at the new year. He said gus is bringing it up tomorrow .... .... *thinking that it was not possible* I said "Gus the Bus?" Aye said the salesman as our Jaws hit the deck ! How spooky is that. Me good mates Forester, from nearly 90 miles away turns up for sale at a garage I never knew - in a city we have just moved to, by a salesman I have never set eyes on before ! Salesman is "Mako" on this site (Russ) So tonight 19/01/08 Fab-1 is now the proud owner of a wickedly super impressive (Vauxhall nova with the buckfast brigade - with all their skip hats back to front brigade) killer

Dont know mate - only moved to Perth 6 months ago and as far as from 2 months ago - Blairgowrie looks the same to me
-
Yep, coming out of Tesco in Blairgowrie about 4.00pm ish, and up the hill I see a very vaguely familiar scoop in obsideon blue. Yep at first glance it's possible scooby - and a new shape WRX scooby it was ! (I suppose an 08 although on a 57 - so brand new). Could only look at it's rear end after it past the junction, and me and Fab1 were more than not impressed. From the meerest of glimpses I got of the front - well hmmm very slightly acceptable but other than that... awful. It is a bland Honda Civic/BMW with only the scoop to destinguish. Winnae be buying one o' thae nasty common souped up K reg novas.

Happy new year folks...

Interesting start to 2008 this morning. Went from Perth to Hamilton to visit the outlaws (+ to get pashed) and went to lift a tenner from the Sainsburys bank machine. Car park is TOTALLY empty - Jen me missus says I think there open WTF (not 1 car) At the bank teller I notices a really tacky leopard skin handbag on top of a bin/fag bucket. This is a naturally Human curiosity gold mine. So as a good citizen and a wink from me missus - I bring it back to the scoob. We quickly looked in the bag for address/contact details and found........... A mobile, a purse with £45 notes some highlighter pens - some tasty credit cards - a letter addressed top the owner it would seem - and some Dentifix ! So this is no dolly bird me thinks. So - did the right thing and me and Jen (+wee hollie, all 2½ years of her) went to the hamilton cop shop to hand in the find. So there am I , givin' me details to the rozzer when 2 old biddies come in the door One of them clad in matching cheap tacky Leopard skin jacket as the handbag, And I take one look at the copper and says "ts got to be hers" And it was She broke down with relief whilst her sister comforted her. Was really quite nice - + she gave me a £20 for a drink - but I told her we'd buy a nice present for the wee one instead. Honesty pays. and what a great start to 2008. 2008 may have been very different for that biddie wi' the obvious plastic fangs. Best to you all. Alan + Jen + wee Hollie.

And you still have not sold it ! C'mon mate.... Lose it.

Aye mate, looked again at the receipt and the 350 nicker includes vat - balancing - fitting - valves + eco waste disposal of me old tyres ! WTF 2 fronts which I changed efter Gus the Bus destroyed 'em tryin to get some good video footage were replaced from a cheappo place in M/well at £60 a pop, Utterly crap. Went through Scone roondaboot givin a little welly and the motor was fishtailing beyond belief. Great fun if ye dinnae hae a broken rib at the time, but crapp tyres - never again. The WRX came with specific tyres - I / Gus wore them out (the motor was stinkin' o' clutch/ brakes and all sorts that day) and I chose to be a cheappo and got 2 crap tyres. (I thought £60 a shoe was cheap) NEVER BUY CRAPPY TYRES. Will be stickin to the original spec the car came with. Still the best car I've ever bought (after 30 years of buying/driving all sorts of cars) Not one day goes past when my WRX does not deliberately put a smile on my face because that's its job. Thankyou Mr Subaru.

Had to get a full set of shoes for me scoob today and went to Kwick-Fiddle. Guy quotes for 4 Bridgestone potenza's at £599 ! Aye right me says. Told him £350 and it's a deal. He says he'll check with the computer (tyres in stock BTW). I say's the computer will allow it at that discount. being New years eve and a' that. Got the shoes albeit £350 sheets lighter on the wallet but hey - I think I did ok. Don't ask - Don't get. Just pick a figure....

Neil, Imy, Grant etc. Thankyou so much for a touching return to the SIDC forum. Still miss a bit of input from me other mates Gus, Marky,Spooks, Rosie, Dougie_C, Ali_ and probably a lot that more than me and Fab 1 have forgotten during the most arduest thing someone with a young baby can do. Moving house ! DONT DO IT PLEASE ! Dreadful experience if you don't find the right one - thankfully we did. Welsho. You a'right efter your probs ? All 3 of us luv you all. Ps. scoob is fine and turbo.

Grant, We haven't watched your vid as of yet but will do a little later. You and Imy may know us from the Santa Cruise last year to Yorkhill (which was such a success for the sick kids with loads of smileys from the Falkirk mob too efter Tom Tom sent me to the wrong address ! , Andy_WRX if I remember being the tear Jerker - sound bloke as with all me friends I've met over the last while - Gus the Bus the tops - and Marky.t.s of course + Niel - 4hero). Can I just say one thing Grant, Yer speech on top of that transformer room was fantastic at the Colin McRae tribute at Haddington services. You complained to me that you were no speechmaker but hold the reighns - Colin would have been proud ! Fantastic speech mate. Sorry, but maybe wont make the Glesga Santa Cruise this year as we now live North of Perth. Do the Central belt the best you have ever can this year Grant and Imy. Last year was a BLAST ! You are 2 good people

Got done for doing 79 in a 60 on the A77 a while back. £750 fine and 9 penalty points. If you get worse, then that would be a Guiness book record. Unfortunately Dave, luck aint on your side. Wallet out - and laminate your License before you have to pass it to the polis etc. (for van hire etc)

So, tell me Gus Les Aotobus ? How did ye like my Hawkeye ? Ps. Had to get new shoes all round @ 12K on the clock [] Not All your fault mate []
