4Hero Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I think it would be more like 4 points and not sure about fine according to this site, lucky you didn't get caught doing 86.
RA Dunk Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 naa he should be safe enough with the 3 points IMO, i got caught at 89 in a 60 and got 3 points and 60 fine, it was late at night and on an empty road but i doubt that came into consideration tbh
RS Grant Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Might be lucky and get 3 points mate... but I think if you get a Court appearance, then you're looking at 4 points and a £150 fine at least. Cheers, Grant
andy_robertson Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 i was accelerating out of a 30 to a 60 an gave ma car a wee blast on a clear road that didnt have any traffic in either direction they pulled out behind me at a staggered junction unkown to me time i seen them it was too late [] guy said i was under 90 so i suppose thats a bonus just have to wait and see now i suppose.....
marky.t.s Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 unlucky mate,..just a word of warning folks ,theres a Speedwatch campaign type thing on this week in Cumbernauld area, covering theM80,A80,all roads in and out of C/nauld including Kilsyth,Moodiesburn,Mollinsburn,Kirkintilloch,Castlecary,etc,etc......So WATCH YER SPEED!!!!!!![]
Alan-G Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 This was a long time ago, but I got busted for doing 79 in a 60 on the old A77 Fenwick moor to Ayr road (other way about but that doesn't matter) and I actually flashed a car out to overtake a slower vehicle. So after he pulled back in , I overtook him and he gave me a polite wave. T'was an unmarked white Sierra traff car. He stopped me about a mile later and gave me a ticket. Next thing, I've got a court summons at Kilmarnock sherrif courthouse. I thought - for speeding ? But, apparently the Judge's son got hit by a speeding driver but although he wasn't hurt, he has and apparently still does have a severe grudge on folks that break the speed limit. Judge was a real Stocky bloke with a huge beard (cannae remember his name) but apparently is noted for singing sectarian songs in court ! and really looked to me as inhaling snuff or the like whilst my trial was in progress. Net result. No ban (thank the Lord) but 11 penalty points and a £750 fine. All completely true - this was 17 years ago or there about. Alan.
scoob fae ork Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Sorry to here bout that mate don think they will be hard on you.[] Jeez you guys get off some light the judge up in Orkney hates drivers and has dished out year bans and £600 fines to folk to more once only doing between 80 an 86 even had a guy banned at 79 MPH an these were all in 60 zones in the middle of no where on straight bits of of roads. Not to mention all the Smashes the Police have had up here in the last five years to name but a few Ran up the back of an Ambulance excuse = Driver Coughed Ran into side of VW Corrado and wrote off both cars excuse= Driver Sneezed Went through fence and rolled on straight road excuse = Sun got in drivers eyes. Run up back of car in front causing both cars to land in a ditch excuse = Car in front braked to hard for them to stop in time. All Police did not get one fine or speeding ticket for all the above. And its them stopping us for speeding !! i think the world gone nuts[:S]

colzo Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Unlucky and it seems unfair when you say there was no other traffic. Hope its just the minimum points/fine.

Eyes will be wide open! [Y] Not that I speed! [A]

Did they just caution and charge you then because of the speed you were doing in that particular zone? Sounds like it, otherwise you would've been given an endorsable conditional offer and they would've explained that it was 3pts and £60. I take it you weren't given a ticket?

People might be able to say, 'They seemed to be going fast' but that wouldn't stand up in court. The next offence would be careless driving but if it's anything like Dumbarton Sheriff Court, if it's non injury....no proceedings. Normal Joe Publice drivers involved may well just be put on a driver improvement scheme rather than get points etc.
fraser_forbes Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I was out on Friday Night, Play around.. Got a bit crazy and was caught doing well over xxxmph in livingston. The cops where coming the other way, they turned around and stopped me.. Luckly they never got time to trace myspeed. I got offf. So I missed going to court ! Fraser = A Twat :-) I have not been over 30 all weekend now.
AlanG Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 If you're going to be summoned to go to court, the fine will be dictated by ability to pay. You may also be able to plead guilty by letter and save the court costs. It will be either more points, low fine or larger fine and less points. Circumstances surrounding the speeding offence will also be taken into consideration when deciding an appropriate punishment for the offence
4Hero Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 And you are admitting to that Fraser on here? I would maybe remove the speed if I were you. Speeding on open roads is not big, nor clever kids.
